About the team



The Federation Communications team works to engage and inform members and the public about issues affecting education in Saskatchewan and the work of teachers. This is done through social media, advertising, awareness campaigns, and media relationships to help mobilize public support and ensure a prominent voice for teachers. The Communication team frequently works alongside the design and production team.


What you'll do



The Communications Officer is responsible for planning, developing, and executing strategic communication plans. In addition, this position involves writing, editing, and creating engaging content to promote the organization's brand, activities and projects.


This position could require some travel throughout the province.


Responsibilities include:


Write, edit and distribute content, including publications, promotional content, digital content, speaking notes, briefs, presentations, key messages and other marketing material that communicates the organization's programs, services and initiatives. Create strategic communications plans to support the work of the Federation and enhance member communication. Support communications needs of Federation internal committees and groups. Create and implement marketing and communications strategies for Federation-led events. Ensure all content is relevant and consistent in terms of style, brand compliance, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels. Maintain awareness of news, events and current high-profile activities. Review and analyze digital analytic data. Coordinate graphic design, photo and video material and promotional material to ensure Federation guidelines and standards are met. Collaborate with Federation staff to meet the needs of the membership and advocate for public education in Saskatchewan. Seek opportunities to enhance the Federation's brand and reputation.

What you'll bring




An undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or English, combined with 2-3 years of relevant experience and evidence of strategic planning and implementation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and analytics is required. Strong professional, creative and concise writing skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal, communications and public relations skills. Established consultation and development of project management skills. Detail oriented and ability to work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of communications strategy and implementation. Ability to collaborate effectively and efficiently with others. Ability to establish strong working relationships. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Ability to manage time and multiple tasks appropriately.
