JD Irving is currently seeking a Communications Officer, reporting to the Director, Communications. The selected candidate will work collaboratively within the Communications team to support J.D. Irving Limited and its divisions through regular content development, the annual ESG report, and the production of communications materials for internal / external stakeholders.

Successful Candidate will possess the following, in order of importance:

• A demonstrated track record (minimum 2-3 years of experience) in journalism, content development or comparable full-time writing/editing role
• Demonstrated ability to identify and shape stories
• Proficiency in the creative development of content for digital and social media including capability with related analytics and optimization.
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills with an eye for detail
• High energy individual contributor with dedication to meeting customer needs
• Demonstrated track record in prioritizing and time management with the ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines as competing priorities emerge
• University Degree in Communications, Journalism or related fields is preferred

Qualifications:

• University degree (or similar) in Public Relations, Journalism or related fields is preferred
• Bilingualism an asset

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute content and communications plans to a defined calendar in support of departmental and organizational goals
• Message development from beginning to end including: planning, writing, reviewing, formatting, editing, proofreading, and disseminating through various channels
• Complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding accuracy, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology using approved processes
• Identify, research, assess and create editorial content for internal and external use across the organization in accordance with established processes
• Work collaboratively with graphic designers to assist in the development of materials for publication via various channels including digital, social and print
• Other duties/projects as assigned
