LOCATION

: Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Community Centre, 328 Chippewa Road, Muncey Ontario and/or satellite office in the city of London, Ontario.

TERM

: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am- 4:30pm EST??

Summary:


The Communications Officer will promote the enhanced prevention services model for the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation (COTTFN), Child, Youth and Family Well-Being Services (CYFWBS) program. This role involves issuing communications about current and new staff members, strategic planning components of prevention services, and reporting on progress to provide information about services both on and off the First Nation.

Responsibilities:



Develop an annual work plan and budget with the CYFWBS Director.

Meet regularly to review progress and ensure budget adherence.

Develop communication strategies to promote initiatives and services.

Prepare communications regarding staff and service updates.

Collaborate with CYFWBS Director, political office, and council.

Create press releases, newsletters, and other materials.

Manage social media and online communications.

Organize community events and engage stakeholders.

Monitor and report on communication effectiveness.

Maintain confidentiality of involved families.

Knowledge and Skills:



Strong understanding of Ojibway culture and traditions.

Familiarity with COTTFN's customs, culture, and services.

Knowledge of service delivery in child welfare.

Advocacy and public speaking skills.

Ability to work under pressure and collaboratively.

Independent and team-oriented work ethic.

Initiative, deadline management, and flexibility.

Strong administration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.

Minimum 3 years of communications experience in a First Nation Community.

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups.

Experience in social media and digital communications.

Knowledge of First Nation culture and values preferred.

Valid "G" driver's license and insured vehicle.

Clear CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Screen/Check.
