Position Overview Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, the Communications and Media Manager supports the creation of internal and external communications, ensuring its message is consistent and engaging for the targeted audience. The Communications & Media Manager develops and implements targeted communications and content for a variety of media platforms. The Communications & Media Manager researches, writes, proofreads, and edits all content, and plan and execute all communications and media.
Accountabilities Communications
  • Supports the development of the communications strategy for FMB including implementation and evaluation to measure the effectiveness of the strategy;
  • Supports the development of all corporate communications materials;
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with all Business lines;
  • Ensures internal and external messaging is concise and easy to understand for the targeted audience (plain language);
  • Quickly understands key audiences such as First Nations, Indigenous organizations, federal and provincial governments, and financial institutions and regulator, ensuring to utilize key demographics to target communications efforts;
  • Maintains awareness of external partners/business environment and industry news;
  • Prepares marketing materials including presentation kits, direct mail, print and web advertising, newsletters, articles, blogs, e-mail campaigns, and internal marketing messages;
  • Continuously works to improve practices and make recommendations for process improvements.

Media Coordination
  • Manages FMB\xe2\x80\x99s social media channels including content development monitoring, issues management and analytics;
  • Creates and manages the organization\xe2\x80\x99s social media profile and presence.
  • Identifying press opportunities through evolving issues;
  • Ensures that key messages align with FMB strategies and mandate;
  • Scans media marketplace to keep up to date on the latest media trends;
  • Promotes additional projects to support new initiative launches;
  • Works with business lines to raise brand awareness through social media outlets;
  • Creates and moderates business pages on all social media platforms including but not limited to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to gain interest of potential clients and relevant audiences;
  • Optimizes YouTube channel effectiveness;
  • Supports Internal Communications with media writing assignments and updates to the FMB website;
  • Develops, maintains, and manages relations with external audiences, media as well as non-media to convey required message.
  • Coordinates focused PR tasks and events with varied business lines as guided by manager;
  • Conducts research on Indigenous issues to maintain existing knowledge base;
  • Develops and distributes monitoring reports;
  • Develops, updates, and maintains all media lists;
  • Develops, updates, and maintains all press kits as well as media materials as needed;
  • Logs all archive media interviews, press clips and media outreach;
  • Maintains and updates project checklists and timelines along with support development of business documents like charts and tables, power point presentations and so on;
  • Provides secondary as well as tertiary assistance to various team members and business lines as needed.
The Communications & Media Manager performs other duties as assigned, including backup for the Speech & Technical Writer.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors\xe2\x80\x99 degree in Public Relations, Communications, Media, English, Journalism, or relevant field;
  • 2+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in communications, media coordination, or Public Relations;
  • Expert at targeted communications and advertising campaigns across various media platforms.
  • Deep understanding of web traffic metrics, and social media best practices;
  • Ability to develop appropriate broadcast, print, and social media content;
  • Experience working with Indigenous Governments, organizations and communities considered a strong asset;
  • Experience in developing and executing strategic communications plans;
  • Exceptional relationship building skills;
  • Demonstrated effective writing skills, content development and editing skills;
  • Effective working skills of Microsoft Suite and Adobe Products;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to create visually appealing materials, graphic design skills are considered an asset;
  • Excellent communicator with a strong command of written and spoken English; French language skills considered an asset.
Equivalent or relevant education and/or experience may be considered.

Work Conditions
  • This position is based in West Vancouver, British Columbia, or Ottawa, ON; hybrid work may be considered.
  • Requires occasional national travel.
