Position Overview Hospitality Training Action Centre 75 (HTA 75) is seeking an experienced Marketing & Communications Specialist to develop and execute the organization\'s marketing strategy and external communications. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Operations and Industry Partnerships and will be responsible for effectively promoting HTA 75 programs to target audiences and partners.
The Marketing & Communications Manager will be accountable for ensuring that communication production deliverables are completed within budget and on-time, and that organization and program outcomes are communicated regularly to stakeholders.
The ideal candidate must have a thorough understanding of stakeholder management, project management, common hiring practices within the hospitality industry, and organization communications in a complex, government-funded, non-profit environment. The role requires exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. The successful candidate must have a keen eye for identifying and mitigating risks and taking the initiative when faced with challenges. Additionally, the candidate must possess considerable knowledge of current equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging practices and proactively build a culture of care within all functional areas of the organization.
Key Accountabilities 1. Manage content, asset creation and communications by:

  • Managing content, asset creation, and communication for public audiences, including writing and adapting written and visual materials for use on multiple platforms
  • Writing member communications, including newsletters, mass texts, and emails
  • Managing HTA 75\'s website and social media accounts, regularly creating engaging content and documenting events
  • Supporting the Programs Team in promoting programs and services

2. Manage the organizations brand strategy by:
  • Developing and execute messaging and material strategies for effective communication with various audiences
  • Planning and implement earned media outreach, including organizing events, pitching news stories, and training union members as spokespeople
  • Collaborating with union leadership to develop and lead communication strategies that support workers\' campaigns, and analyze their effectiveness

3. Provide overall organizational support by:
  • Attending and support outreach events with community organizations and employer partners
  • Researching and documenting best practices, upcoming employment trends, and new job requirements in employment services and the hospitality industry to advance organization knowledge
  • Representing HTA 75 at public events, including conferences and networking events

Role Requirements
  • This is a hybrid position and while some parts of this position can be completed at-home in a virtual setting, this position has a significant in-person requirement and requires attendance various training sites, employer properties, and other meeting spaces across the Greater Toronto Area.
  • This position will require work outside of standard business hours. HTA75 programs reflect the needs of the hospitality workforce and its availability for training and support.
  • This position will be required to work evenings and weekends.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Previous mid-level communications and marketing experience involving significant writing, research, and content creation
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and evaluate stakeholder relationships
  • Knowledge of social services, employment services, and government-funded community agencies is an asset
  • Knowledge of the hospitality industry, including hiring practices, is an asset
  • Experience supporting organization leadership in small businesses or start-ups is an asset
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work collaboratively
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce, Zoom, and other tools
  • Understanding of challenges in working with vulnerable populations

Compensation & Benefits
  • This role will receive an competitive annual salary of $67,000 - $70,000 CAD (pro-rated through the length of the contract, if applicable)
