Job Summary

Reporting to the Communications Director, as part of the Retail Customer Communications team, the Communications Lead will work closely with key stakeholders and senior executives to develop and execute communications strategy, messaging, and planning for regional Retail/Institutional customers and banner members.

The Communications Lead will be responsible for leading key content solutions that create awareness, engagement, and establishes McKesson Canada as a thought leader in the pharmaceutical industry in particular region. The role requires the drive to execute concise, informative communications in a timely manner as well as using their professional expertise to resolve complex situations in creative and effective ways.

Section A - Specific Responsibilities

  • Serve as the retail customer communications prime for all regional projects, programs, and tactical communications. Responsible for creating and executing impactful content; messaging; to internal and external audiences across a variety of channels. Ensure projects are completed as defined within the approved scope, on time, and within budget.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to lead communications planning efforts in conjunction with Sales Operations and Customer Care. Strengthen the communications skills and capacity of internal team members to ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Lead the content creation and communication engagement for regional customer events in collaboration with our Sr. Events Advisor and the Corporate Communications Events team. Facilitate and support a variety of content to support business leaders at regional industry events and tradeshows including creation of presentations, speaking notes etc.
  • Assumes editorial ownership of affiliated customer newsletter that provides important and exclusive updates on product offerings, service impacts, education, regulatory changes, and industry news.
  • Responsibility for contributing to positive regional narratives through the use of digital/social media, channels by working collaboratively with channel owners (Marketing & Corporate Communications) to highlight good news stories for their region.
  • Champion the McKesson brand for all communications initiatives. Ensure proper and consistent positioning of the organization and its strategic priorities with regional stakeholders. Identify opportunities to engage with customers and members to strengthen the brand and instill a culture of positive, open communications.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for regional stakeholders, providing strategic communications advice, and proactively engage in regular dialogue with business leaders to maintain an understanding of the current environment, challenges, support requirements; and provide creative solutions.
  • Measure, analyze, and report on the performance of regional communications initiatives; continually monitor metrics, adjusting messaging to maximize impact and effectiveness when needed.

Section C - Position Requirements
  • Relevant education in Communications or Marketing Communications;
  • 5+ years of experience developing, implementing, and leading communications strategies, preferably for a large organization within the retail, healthcare, or pharmaceutical industry;
  • Healthcare landscape/pharmacy knowledge in a regulated environment is an asset;
  • Experience in B2B communications is an asset;
  • Superior communication skills (written, verbal, editing); bilingual in French is considered an asset;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Marketo, Salesforce, Smartsheet, Mailchimp, and other communication tools an asset.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$84,500 - $140,800
