Communications Intern - Fall 2023

Responsibilities

  • Building a broad understanding of the role of a communications coordinator and manager
  • Media monitoring and industry education: reviewing + scanning media outlets daily
  • Compiling, filing, and scanning press clippings
  • Assisting with press release editing and servicing, learning to navigate a range of digital platforms like WordPress, MailChimp, and more
  • Assisting with digital music press servicing across key industry systems
  • Preparing artist press coverage reports and digital press kits, and building a general understanding of how to report campaign results
  • Learn about media relations across key areas: writing / editing media relations documents, building a strategy, and more
  • Publicity and promo support - learning how to build a media interview schedule and manage artist promo / interviews - remotely or in person
  • Learning to build and maintain a media database, and gaining a working understanding of key networks / outlets / contributors across the Canadian media landscape
  • Special Projects as assigned across digital newsletter development, creative brainstorming, artist events, and media database management
Requirements
  • Passion for music
  • A thorough understanding of media and public relations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Overall computer savvy
  • Strong written and oral interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
