Assignment Description

A Communications Engineer is required to support RTU configurations for the Project Execution team in support of the annual capital work plan. The scope of work shall include:

  • Create custom per site GE D20 RTU configurations,
  • Using test lab, located in St. John\xe2\x80\x99s, mock up the site RTUs and perform Production Development System (PDS) testing with members of IT/OT Group, Review and eliminate run time errors on the config and correct configuration issues as required
  • Prepare work packages for field installation, which include instruction documents, wiring lists and check off sheets for field commissioning.
  • Expectation to work with a junior Engineer for one site configuration and PDS testing. The requirement is to transfer knowledge about RTU config building, PDS testing and wiring list creation.
The preliminary order for the RTU work involves five sites and six RTU configurations. The Communications Engineer shall prepare preliminary configurations in order to be ready for PDS testing in St. John\'s according to the PDS testing schedule. While consultation of exact testing dates will be discussed once a person is set up for this job, the availability of IT/OT resources is the main restriction for the PDS testing dates. The expectation is that the Communications engineer will be available to meet that determined PDS schedule. The following sites are to be completed;

Site #1: Upper Salmon Concentrator

Site #2: Ebbegunbeag Control Structure

Site #3: Paradise River Plant and Intake

Site #4: Voisey Bay Nickel

Site #5: Rattle Brook Concentrator and Local RTU

Following PDS testing, the Communications Engineer shall submit the associated work package c/w wiring lists and check off sheets for review by the Communications Engineering Supervisor within five business days.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Electrical) with a minimum of 10 years of SCADA work experience with/for an electric utility
  • Registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Experience with using the GE DS Agile Software (D2X Studio), working with GE D20 RTUs Hardware and configurations as well as setting up ASE Test set for monitoring protocols and simulation of devices.
Duration

July 17th, 2023 - 8 weeks @ 40 hours per week for a total of 320 hours

Location

Remote, with site and office visits.
