Canadian Media Guild seeks a Communications Coordinator

Position Overview The Communications Coordinator is responsible for the internal and external communications of the national office of the CMG. The role seeks direction from CMG president, Executive Director and the Senior Staff Rep to develop strategic approaches for maintaining and improving communications at every level of the CMG. Responsibilities/Accountabilities Responsibilities: o Effectively plan the union\xe2\x80\x99s internal and external communications across a variety of channels to keep employees and members of the public up to date and informed. o Identify opportunities to enhance the union\xe2\x80\x99s viability and profile with members of the public at large through proactive and reactive communications as needed. o Regularly consult with the president, staff and members to effectively manage the research, plan and develop communications at CMG. o Write, edit, proof communications across a variety of channels, such as online, email and print, helping to maintain the union\xe2\x80\x99s reputation and image. o Support the development of policy-related and advocacy positions taken by the CMG. o Coordinate the design, translation and publication of communications on behalf of CMG to internal and external stakeholders as needed. o Maintain communication channels and processes including distribution lists, templates and systems. o Supports the work of CMG committees as needed. o Provide media relations support to build and enhance relationships with the public, which includes responding to media requests as needed. o Research, write, edit and distribute media relations material, including media releases, media statements, and briefing notes. o Maintain media contact lists and coordinates media monitoring efforts. o Ensure the effective measurement and evaluation of internal and external communications, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary. o Consult with internal stakeholders to develop strategic approaches for maintaining and improving communications at every level of the CMG.
