The Marketing Department at IGM Financial (including Mackenzie Investments and IG Wealth Management) is currently accepting applications for the position of Communications Associate, reporting to the Manager of Communications. As part of the national Corporate Communications team, you will help develop and implement crucial communications for IGM Financial, including both IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Investments. The successful candidate will also contribute to the editorial direction of the team and will use their superior writing skills to draft and edit content for a range of internal and external audiences.

The successful candidate\xe2\x80\x99s primary responsibilities will include:

  • Media Relations
  • Contribute to IGM Financial\xe2\x80\x99s ongoing media relations campaign by developing exciting and creative pitch angles, drafting media materials, collaborating closely with target editors/journalists to develop and strengthen relationships.
  • Work with media outlets and journalists to secure interview opportunities for IGM/IG/Mackenzie spokespeople.
  • The individual will also be part of the group\xe2\x80\x99s social media team and assist in the creation of content.
  • Work closely with the external PR agency team.
  • Writing and Editing
  • Create content and manage approvals for a variety of external and internal materials.
  • Draft press releases, media pitches, social media posts, speaking notes, video scripts, materials for web conferences, craft collateral, and web pages.
  • Conduct research as needed and build campaign wrap-up reports.
  • Manage content delivery, including translation, design, digital and multimedia requirements as needed.
  • Project Management Support
  • Work with the members of the team to ensure campaigns/plans are moving forward in a timely manner and are addressing the needs of stakeholders.
  • Assist with the layout and review process for daily communications cycle.
  • Monitor, collect and share analytics as needed.
The following qualifications will assist the successful candidate in carrying out these responsibilities:
  • 1-3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a corporate communications or PR agency environment. Direct experience within the financial services industry considered an asset.
  • Strong and versatile writer who can balance corporate tone with attention-grabbing storytelling.
  • Experience implementing communications campaigns for external and internal audiences.
  • A strong understanding of media relations and coordinated PR campaigns.
  • Expertise in social media strategy and drafting content for different platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
  • Established relationships with a wide cross-section of journalists.
  • Outstanding Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with graphic design considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated interest in communications industry standard processes an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications or Public Relations.
  • Bilingual in English and French considered an asset.
