As an affiliate of the Manitoba M\xc3\xa9tis Federation (MMF), the Louis Riel Institute (LRI) is responsible to the M\xc3\xa9tis people of Manitoba to provide programs, resources and services related to education and culture. The Louis Riel Institute seeks to fill one Full-time Summer Term Communications Assistant position located in Winnipeg, MB. Communications Assistant The Communications Assistant is responsible for the creation and design of LRI informational promotional material such as brochures, catalogues, banners, annual reports and post cards. In addition, the incumbent will assist with the planning campaign for LRI social media and website, including researching, designing and publishing content for all public platforms. Job Duties/Competencies: \xc2\xb7 Research and design LRI resources such as brochures, postcards, annual reports, posters and catalogues \xc2\xb7 Contribute creative visual concepts when designing banners and promotional material \xc2\xb7 Develop and add graphic design content to collection \xc2\xb7 Create content for social media and website \xc2\xb7 Write, edit and distribute content for all public platforms \xc2\xb7 Participate and offer ideas for future marketing planning \xc2\xb7 Attend events to document and obtain content such as pictures for promotional purposes Skills and Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Highschool diploma required \xc2\xb7 Continuing University/College Education in related field \xc2\xb7 Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines while multitasking \xc2\xb7 Comfortable working both collaboratively and independently \xc2\xb7 Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills \xc2\xb7 Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities \xc2\xb7 Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal \xc2\xb7 Experience working in a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community an asset \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of M\xc3\xa9tis culture, LRI programs and services is a definite asset \xc2\xb7 General knowledge of MMF programs, services, and governance \xc2\xb7 Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with access to a reliable vehicle To qualify, candidates must;

  • Be between the ages of 15-30
  • Must be returning to school on a full time basis in the upcoming academic year
  • Must reside in Manitoba
