Hiring Unit:
CaPS, McGill's Central Career Services, supports student career and leadership development through career counselling and advising, skills development workshops, experiential learning and career exploration programs, mentoring, and career and networking events. CaPS provides and oversees a wide variety of resources and tools to help students search for part-time / summer jobs, internships and post-graduation opportunities, including the myFuture platform and the Student Experience Record, with the goal of helping students become career-ready now and for their future.
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent may perform some or all of the listed general administration functions:
Communications & Administrative Support

  • Draft and format communication materials including newsletters, promotional content, and event announcements.
  • Assist in developing and scheduling social media content across McGill-approved platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Update website content related to CaPS programming and events.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and provide suggestions to enhance outreach and visibility.
  • Perform basic office duties such as managing emails, scheduling appointments, and filing documents (as needed)
Emerging Leaders Team Support:
  • Assist with Emerging Leaders Team recruitment, training activities, and communication.
  • Provide regular updates to the Leadership Training Facilitator on team progress and engagement.
  • Provide basic technical support during virtual sessions (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams), including:
  • Managing breakout rooms
  • Troubleshooting audio/video issues
  • Supporting presenters and attendees
Student Engagement & Drop-In Support:
  • Greet and assist students during in-person drop-in sessions focused on career planning and leadership development.
  • Offer basic guidance and refer students to appropriate CaPS resources or staff.
  • Assist with the setup and facilitation of workshops, webinars, and student-facing events.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
  • Bilingual: English and French (McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing).
  • Experience facilitating groups or workshops.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to multitask and manage priorities effectively.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and videoconferencing tools (Zoom, Teams).
  • Works well independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiar with campus services and student resources.
  • Reliable, professional, and punctual.
  • Interest in leadership, student development, and career services
  • Work-Study approved (an asset)
Expected Start Date: September 29, 2025

Knowledge of English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. Hourly Salary: (AMUSE C) $16.78
