Hiring Unit:

The McGill Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (MORSL) provides multi\xe2\x80\x90faith resources and programming for the religious and spiritual well\xe2\x80\x90being of all McGill students. They offer support to students across the religious, spiritual, and secular spectrum and encourage students\xe2\x80\x99 spiritual exploration through workshops, events, publications, and a lounge and meditation space.

Position Summary:

The communications and web assistant will help update and maintain MORSL\xe2\x80\x99s website, social media accounts and online presence.

  • Edit, update, and create content for MORSL\xe2\x80\x99s webpage, especially the religious celebrations page, volunteering page, MORSL Stories page, Channel events, Spiritual Community/Worship page, and other pages that need regular updating.
  • Serve as the MORSL Radix liaison. Meet with the Radix advisory board as needed and support them in publishing Radix issues.
  • Design video projects, plan the content, create any needed graphics, and coordinate filming
  • Assist the MORSL team in gathering partner events to share with students
  • Edit and caption event recordings for MORSL\xe2\x80\x99s YouTube channel and social media, as needed
  • Create social media content, newsletter content, and promotional graphics, as needed
  • Cover lunch breaks and serves students in MORSL\xe2\x80\x99s drop-in space, as needed.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
  • Trained in WMS desired (if not, training can happen in service)
  • Experienced in social media strategies and branding
  • Skilled at video editing and creation
  • Experienced in graphic design
  • Strong editing and writing skills
  • Comfortable and enthusiastic creating content related to religion and spirituality and MORSL
  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
