Street Haven is a dynamic women's multi-service agency that provides shelter, supportive housing, training supports, and addictions therapy to vulnerable women in Toronto. We were established in 1965 and serve 1500 individuals annually. We have seen an increasing complexity of mental health and addiction needs among our clients. We are seeking a qualified and passionate candidate to take on this temporary role who can be part of our high performing team and provide comprehensive support to improve the lives of our clients.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications and Fundraising Manager will develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the initiatives of Street Haven at the Crossroads. The Communications and Fundraising Manager develops Street Haven's short- and long-range fundraising objectives and works with the Executive Director to produce and implement an annual development plan. They are responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing donations from individual donors, corporate sponsors, community partners, and philanthropic organizations. Working collaboratively with program staff and leadership, this role is also responsible for donor stewardship, event planning, community engagement activities, and supervising fundraising staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and executing successful data-driven fundraising plans and campaigns and will be able to see the big picture while managing the minute details. They will ensure compliance with all fundraising regulations and maintain comprehensive donor records and relationships. By effectively communicating our mission and impact, you will help ensure the sustainability and growth of Street Haven at the Crossroads.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
Supervise and mentor fundraising staff, volunteers, and interns, providing guidance, training, and performance management
Develop and implement training programs for fundraising team members and volunteers
Coordinate volunteer recruitment, orientation, and retention strategies for fundraising activities
Conduct regular team meetings and provide ongoing professional development opportunities
Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure team accountability for fundraising goals
Fundraising Strategy & Implementation
Develop and implement comprehensive annual fundraising plans to meet organizational revenue goals
Identify, research, and cultivate relationships with prospective individual donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners
Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events including galas, community fundraisers, and donor appreciation events
Create compelling fundraising materials including donor appeals, newsletters, impact reports, and promotional materials
Manage and maintain donor database, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely acknowledgment of all donations
Donor and member cultivation, recruitment, stewardship, and solicitation
Build, steward and deepen relationships with current and prospective members/donors
Drive frequent communications and outreach to constituents on Street Haven's activities, priorities, and developments
Organize fundraising and volunteer events that attract new members and strengthen current members' involvement
Work closely with leadership & staff to create solicitations and design campaigns to increase member acquisition and retention/renewal
Manage and grow Street Haven's planned/legacy giving program
Communications
Lead Street Haven's communications strategy, including oversight and integration of Street Haven brand identity into written and electronic (email, web, social media) communications
Serve as lead for producing and maintaining fundraising materials for donor and foundation meetings
Produce fundraising reports/presentations for board meetings and the Executive Director
Actively manage and document donor, sponsor, and institutional funder relationships, actions, and notes to assure accurate, timely, and consistent donor engagement and communications
Major Events
Work closely with Executive Director, staff, consultants and board subcommittee to execute Street Haven's major annual fundraising event and other events throughout the year
Social Media & Digital Marketing
Develop and implement comprehensive social media strategy across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) to increase brand awareness and donor engagement
Design and execute social media fundraising campaigns including peer-to-peer fundraising, crowdfunding initiatives, and online giving challenges Monitor social media analytics and adjust strategies based on engagement rates, reach, and conversion metrics.
Develop and maintain email marketing campaigns including donor newsletters, event invitations, and targeted appeals
Manage website fundraising content, donation pages, and online giving forms to optimize user experience and conversion rates
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising, preferably in the non-profit sector, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience Proven experience supervising staff, volunteers, or teams in a fundraising or related environment
Superior verbal and written communications skills with strong presentation abilities
Proven track record of successful fundraising campaigns and donor relationship management
Strong leadership and team management skills with ability to motivate and develop others Ability to remain organized and accurate in a dynamic fast-paced environment with frequently competing demands and priorities
Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret donor data and market trends
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team
Event planning and coordination experience
Budget planning and financial management skills
Strong computer skills and experience working with donor management software (experience with databases such as Raiser's Edge, DonorPerfect, or similar systems preferred)
Experience with volunteer management and coordination
Passion for the mission and goals of Street Haven at the Crossroads
Knowledge of fundraising regulations and ethical standards
Where we work
This role is based in Downtown Toronto and requires working on-site 5 days a week, 40 hours weekly. Occasional evening work may be required. Some travel to other sites as needed.
