The Kenora & District Chamber of Commerce (KDCC) is dedicated to fostering a thriving business environment that promotes the growth and prosperity of our members. Established in 1888, the KDCC proudly represents over 200 members from diverse sectors and industries. Our commitment stays in supporting existing businesses while attracting new opportunities to the Kenora area. As the "voice of business," we actively engage with all levels of government to advocate on behalf of our business community. The KDCC is affiliated with both the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. We are searching for a dynamic and motivated Communications and Event Coordinator to enhance our communication initiatives and coordinate impactful events for our members.

The Communications and Events Coordinator will operate under the guidance of the Chamber Manager, as well as the President and Executive Board of Directors. This role encompasses a wide array of administrative responsibilities, including budget management for events, organizational planning, public relations, community development, and marketing initiatives. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are crucial for effective collaboration with media, volunteers, community groups, and other agencies, as well as for supervising project staff and volunteers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Modern Communication Development: Research, develop, and implement innovative strategies to enhance communication between the Chamber and its members. Partnership Engagement: Forge effective collaborations with partner organizations to provide valuable educational resources and support for our members. Resource Accessibility: Assist members in navigating and utilizing various resources tailored to their individual business needs. Social Media Management: Enhance and maintain the Chamber's social media presence by fostering member interactions and developing effective communication strategies. Event Coordination: Assist in the planning and execution of annual events, including the Annual Business Awards and Banquet, Open Air Market, Home & Leisure Show, networking events, and professional development workshops. Event Development: Innovate and develop engaging events that cater to the interests and needs of Chamber members and the wider business community. Member Communication Processing: Efficiently manage member communications and correspondence to ensure timely and effective information dissemination. Government Relations Improvement: Promote and enhance relationships with government representatives at federal, provincial, and municipal levels to better serve Chamber members.
Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Communications, Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Proven experience in communications, event coordination, or comparable roles. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in social media management and communication tools. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and forge relationships with external partners.

Pay: $40,000.00-$56,000.00 per year
