How will you make an impact?



The Communications and Digital Storytelling Specialist will collaborate with the Lead Storyteller to oversee timely and clear amplification of the Fireweed Institute's digital storytelling activities, marketing, and communications support in the mission of the organization and the entrepreneurs we are in service of.

What will you work on?



Digital Storytelling and Communications Coordination

Manage communications content development and implementation in collaboration with Lead Storyteller. Manage a digital storytelling strategy across various platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Fireweed's website). Maintain website in collaboration with Lead Storyteller Bring Fireweed's brand, vision, and values to life through compelling, consistent, and on-brand digital storytelling content, newsletters, print materials, event(s) support, and more. Support material development aligned with the marketing calendar and organizational priorities. Conduct short-form interviews with program participants, Fireweed team members, program delivery partners and guest speakers to capture relevant and compelling Storytelling and evaluation media Perform short form interviews with Fireweed team members, program participants, and delivery partners to capture and create narrative design and evalution supports Maintain social media calendar Write and publish (web & socials) content/material that elevate the stories and impacts of our program participants Leverage company and third-party tools for execution and to track outreach and impact. Assist with other external communications such as editing/modifying sponsorship documents, working with Evaluation team on report production and graphics. Capturing professional and relevant in-person media at events, in-person learning intensives, and related Fireweed activities.
Team Collaboration & Learning

Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to continuous program learning and development. Attend a monthly in-person meeting at the Fireweed's Vancouver office. Participate in cultural and professional development opportunities offered by Fireweed Institute.

Required



This hybrid role is eligible for workers legally authorized to work in Canada. Role requires in-person working sessions and attendance at events, primarily in BC, up to 10 times/year for durations of approximately 3 days each. Travel costs for these sessions will be borne by the employee, unless they are attending a conference or other external event on behalf of Fireweed. Minimum 3 years of experience in social media management, content strategy, or digital marketing, with a strong storytelling portfolio. An understanding of social media trends, analytics, and performance optimization. Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills. Expert writing and editing skills. High level of expertise and pace of work with tools like Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite. High level of expertise with capturing and editing short-form video Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.

Preferred



Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (lived/work experience a viable substitute). Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations. Comfort with tools like MS 365 and Windows.

The Fireweed Institute is a hybrid-remote workplace. Accordingly, candidates for this role must be located within a reasonable commuting distance of Vancouver (approximately 2 hours) for regular monthly meetings. Please note that commute is distinct from travel.*

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
