Communications Advisor

Hydro is looking for a communications professional to join our Public Affairs Team--someone who thrives in a complex and fast paced environment and is looking to contribute to a changing organization in a rapidly changing electricity industry. Reporting to the Team Lead, Public Affairs, the successful candidate will provide public relations support to help Hydro achieve a variety of business goals and communicate with our many partners--Indigenous communities, government, industry, customers, media-- anyone and everyone who has an interest in the energy industry!
Responsibilities:
Assist in the crafting of communications plans and materials.
Support media relations activities through monitoring, assisting with media availabilities, and drafting responses to external and public inquiries.
Work collaboratively with Hydro's Employee Engagement and Culture Team to support drafting of content and public messaging for Hydro's digital platforms.
Support corporate communications activities including drafting of key messages, releases, statements, briefing notes, etc.
Participate in various reporting and documentation processes.
Support planning and coordination of corporate events, such as the AGM and various briefings.
With direction the team lead, assist in the team's government relations activities as well as public engagement and consultation initiatives.
Job Requirements:
A degree in Public Relations, Communications or Business Administration (Marketing)
Seven (7) to ten (10) years working in public relations or communications.
Experience writing and implementing communication plans.
Strong interpersonal skills with the flexibility to work collaboratively, but also drive tasks forward independently within established processes when necessary.
Calm and steady in high pressure situations with a proven ability to balance competing deadlines and schedules.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Strong commitment to personal and workplace safety.
Experience working with utilities, crown organizations, or highly complex and technical workplaces is an asset.
