Overview

Are you a skilled communications professional looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Our Corporate Communications department is growing, and we are looking for Communications Advisors to join our dynamic, dedicated team.

You will identify and support communications objectives for internal and external audiences. You will perform stakeholder analyses and develop strategies to increase awareness of WorkSafeBC\xe2\x80\x99s services, goals, and initiatives. You\xe2\x80\x99ll write communication plans and develop supporting materials for print and online channels, ensuring consistency of style and accuracy of content while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Where you\xe2\x80\x99ll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

We currently have vacancies in our Victoria and Richmond office. In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in office.

What you\'ll do

  • Consult with internal clients to develop and execute complex communication plans that address organizational issues, mitigate potential risks and challenges, and provide clear, consistent, timely, and useful information to WorkSafeBC\xe2\x80\x99s stakeholders
  • Conceive and implement communication strategies to foster a greater understanding of WorkSafeBC\xe2\x80\x99s services, business objectives, and initiatives
  • Provide recommendations on content, key messages, style, and format of communications to the department and to clients
  • Apply plain-language best practices to all communications and recommend new ways of interpreting complex information for a broad range of audiences
  • Provide functional guidance to editors, web publishers, designers, and photo/video editors when developing and implementing communication initiatives

  • Use the principles and best practices of business communications, including developing and implementing communication plans and strategies

Your background and experience
  • A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of six years of experience working in communications, public affairs, media relations, or writing and/or editing in a government, editorial, or publishing (consumer, academic, corporate, or technical) environment.
