The Position:
The Communications Advisor is a part of the Communications and Public Affairs team and is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of high quality, internal and external strategic communications projects in support of the hospital's strategic goals and priorities.
As a Communications Advisor, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering impactful internal and external communications that support our strategic goals and to bolster our brand. If you are a creative storyteller with a passion for health care and an ability to translate complex information into compelling messages, we want you on our team!
Main Responsibilities
Act as a trusted strategic advisor, offering insights and recommendations to enhance communication effectiveness across the organization as part of a portfolio model
Develop and execute strategic communication plans and materials for internal and external initiatives
Craft engaging communication materials including newsletter articles, press releases, briefing notes, speaking remarks, and presentations
Leverage your creative expertise to support the development of compelling visual content - such as video, photography, and graphic design - that effectively communicates THP's story across digital platforms
Proactively identify and pitch newsworthy stories to media outlets to enhance THP's visibility and strengthen relationships with key media partners
Support the planning and coordination of high-profile events that inspire and inform
Provide strategic communication guidance to internal teams, helping to them tell their stories effectively
Collaborate across teams to create compelling content that enhances the THP brand and fosters engagement inside and outside our walls
Participate in the hospital's on-call rotation to support urgent communication needs as they arise
Key Skills
A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
3+ years of experience in communications, public affairs, or a related role
Exceptional writing, editing, and content development skills
Strong interpersonal and client management abilities to engage with senior leaders, health care teams, community partners, and media
Proven ability to pitch and place compelling stories with local, regional, and national media outlets
Understanding of how to use video, photography, and graphic design tools to support digital storytelling
Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, professional development, and growth
A results-driven, collaborative mindset with a commitment to excellence
Experience in health care or knowledge of government health policy is an asset
