The Communications Advisor delivers communications, marketing, digital and creative solutions to advance Women Building Futures\xe2\x80\x99 strategy and priorities. This position leads our social media strategy, supports program recruitment, and develops and implements internal and external communications plans and products. The successful candidate is an experienced communicator and storyteller who is flexible, responsive, and able to balance multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment. This position requires someone who is confident where experienced, collaborative, creative and curious.
NOTE: This position is open to Edmonton to Calgary regions. The position is a one year mat leave replacement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creates a social media strategy and manages the organization\xe2\x80\x99s social media accounts and calendar with support from the team.
  • Develops social media content to highlight Women Building Futures\xe2\x80\x99 impact and share inspiring stories.
  • Analyzes and reports social media to inform strategy.
  • Leads program recruitment communications for assigned programs.
  • Works with internal departments to develop and implement internal and external communication strategies and products.
  • Provides communications counsel to internal clients to ensure exceptional, clear communication.
  • Develops visual and written communication materials and shares the organization\xe2\x80\x99s story through various communication channels, including the website, social media, video and email.
  • Ensures consistency of corporate brand narrative across various internal and external communication channels
  • Writes, edits and reviews various internal and external communication products.
  • Maintains website content with consideration of the optimal user experience.
  • Builds and nurtures strong relationships with internal clients, as well as with communicators at partner organizations.
  • All employees in Marketing & Communications cover for each other during vacation or if someone is out sick, and maybe required to pitch in to support other one another and the organization with emerging priorities and deadlines.

Skills, Abilities & Personal Attributes
  • Experience developing and implementing internal and external communication strategies.
  • Expert in social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Knowledge of social media marketing best practices and writing for the web
  • Superior writing and editing skills, knowledge of CP Style an asset.
  • Ability to identify and craft a compelling story.
  • Experience and comfort working independently and in collaboration with a team and community members.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and manage project timelines.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva would be considered an asset.
  • Comfortable working with content management systems, customer relationship software and Microsoft 365
  • Awareness of cultural, economic, and social barriers to adult learning and employment, especially for women

Education & Experience
  • Degree or diploma in communications, public relations, or related field
  • At least 5 years of related communication experience, including in social media.
