Title: Communication Coordinator
Based at: Sudbury Women\xe2\x80\x99s Centre
Reports to: Executive Director We are a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing information, referral, and support services to women, girls, trans and non-binary people who have been impacted by violence and/or difficult life circumstances. Our Centre is a place to start to support women, offering key tools and resources that assist in addressing issues of systemic discrimination and violence. We are committed to serving the needs of our clients and community. We aim to create and maintain a safe environment that is inclusive and respectful of diversity. Job Summary: The purpose of the Communication Coordinator is to expand the reach and awareness surrounding the Sudbury Women\'s Centre, as it aims to grow visibility within the community. Will be working with our new strategic plan to assist the new hire to help achieve our new goals for the next 3 years. This position is 32 hours per week at $19/hour. Working Monday-Thursday 8:30-5pm. Some weeks may have additional hours or a change in days due to special events. Specific key duties and responsibilities:

  • Write a variety of different content to support communications and marketing efforts, including newsletters, website copy and updates, annual reports and brochures and press releases
  • Assist development team in developing and implementing a communications strategy designed to further company objectives
  • Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communications campaigns and strategies
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices
  • Enhance digital and social media presence impact
  • Increasing engagement numbers for programs
  • Maintain and increase the media presence to promote further the services available
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Responsible for organization and execution of marketing, media and communication initiatives
  • Foster a community engagement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills involving both listening and talking

Educational background or field(s) of study:
  • 2+ years experience in a communications or marketing role
  • Superior time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • An analytical mind and ability to think critically
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Familiar with Canva, Adobe Design programs, MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint and capable of creating visually compelling presentations
  • Knowledge of email marketing software such as MailChimp
  • Proven knowledge of communications and marketing ethics and best practices
  • Proficient public speaking abilities are an asset
  • Preferred schooling in marketing, graphic design, public relations, communications
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
