The City of Edmonton's Waste Services Branch is looking for a dedicated Communal Waste Transformation Clerk to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the City-wide transition of apartments and condos to a new three-stream waste collection system. What will you do?
Make initial phone calls to property managers to arrange access for pail delivery and canvassing visits
Update and maintain multiple contact lists and building access information in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications
Report and escalate any unusual circumstances
Answer questions from property managers about the Apartment and Condo Collection project Project
Manage a shared business email account, organizing inquiries into appropriate folders
Identify the urgency of email responses and assign email drafts to appropriate team members
Track due dates of assigned email inquiries and send out approved email responses to Property Managers
Assist the Waste Education & Outreach team with reminder phone calls to Property Managers
Provide event assistance for virtual presentations and in-person events
Identify opportunities for program improvement and provide recommendations to the supervisor
Perform other administrative duties
Qualifications
:Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects with emphasis on general office practices or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college
Diversified experience in general office practices and procedures, including providing information via telephone
Assets:
Basic knowledge of Waste Services' programs
Familiarity with GIS applications
Skills required for success:
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to citizens
Confident phone etiquette, especially when dealing with difficult conversations where property managers may appear to be rushed, irritated, or not understanding how their waste is changing
Ability to follow a script when making phone calls and redirect conversations if difficult situations arise
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships
Ability to take direction and work independently to meet desired outcomes
Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
Experience with Google Suite (Forms, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail)
