Role Overview
Centurion is seeking a
Commodity Lumber / Panel Trader
to join and strengthen our Trading Group in the South Calgary office. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a
and values working as part of a collaborative, in-office team.
We are open to candidates with an
existing client base
as well as those with
forest industry experience
(mills, distribution, logistics, procurement, or sales) who are ready to grow into a wholesale trading role with team support.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Market Execution
Negotiate pricing and execute buy/sell transactions for lumber and panel products
Identify and act on market opportunities strategically
Manage assigned North American and offshore trading territories
Work with internal traders to align supply with customer demand
Customer & Supplier Relationships
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers
Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned accounts
Attend customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events as required
Inventory & Trade Management
Manage inventory including forecasting, purchasing, turns, and reconciliation
Ensure accuracy and attention to detail from order entry through delivery
Follow internal systems and processes to support smooth trade execution
Team-Based Collaboration
Work within a shared, in-office trading environment alongside traders, transportation, and supply teams
Collaborate with transportation to coordinate logistics and delivery execution
Communicate and collaborate with traders across the organization to optimize trade flow
Qualifications
Experience in lumber, panels, or related forest products is a strong asset
Existing customer relationships is a strong benefit
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage transactions end-to-end
Comfortable working in a team-oriented and performance-driven environment
