Job Overview


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Specialist to join our Commissioning/Startup team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in industrial commissioning, electrical systems, and mechanical processes. This role involves starting up and troubleshooting complex processing facilities/machinery, ensuring optimal operation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Specialist will play a critical part in maintaining safety standards and operational efficiency across our processing facilities.

Duties



Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process equipment, including MCC instrumentation, machines, sensors, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and AutoCAD drawings to troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation and mechanical issues. Conduct electrical work involving low voltage systems and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Utilize industrial electrician experience to diagnose faults related to sensors, motors, switches, and other electrical components. Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and system modifications. Support installation and commissioning of new equipment or upgrades to existing MCC VFD & PLC systems. Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance. Assist in training team members on new equipment or maintenance procedures as needed. Ensure adherence to safety standards and participate in safety audits.

Requirements



Proven experience with processing equipment, electrical systems, or related fields within hydro carbon environments. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, P&ID, schematics, sensors, and PLC hardwire architecture. Experience with PLC control system and low voltage electrical work is highly desirable. Proficiency with Bluebeam for schematic interpretation and modifications. Proficient with MS Excel/Word and Projects for scheduling and outage planning Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues efficiently. Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with customer service orientation when interacting with internal teams. Electrical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in startup activities. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Relevant certifications or technical training in industrial electrician work or instrumentation preferred. Ability to organize and manage a team of experts through outage and startup.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: Up to $126,670.38 per year

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Edmonton, AB
