SUMMARY
The Commissioning Oversight Manager oversees a team delivering a program that provides technical review and recommendations related to design, specifications, construction and turnover of projects to ensure project quality and the effective integration into building operations and maintenance. The Commissioning Oversight Manager works with the portfolio management team, technical team members, third party consultants and contractors.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
Demonstrates strong, competent leadership for team members to guide them in reaching their full potential and meeting their objectives, which supports achievement of our corporate goals.
Specifically these responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Full involvement with recruiting team
  • Providing mentoring, coaching and guidance to all team members
  • Objectively recommending compensation adjustments
  • Managing all aspects of performance
  • Working as a team to ensure continuous improvement of the commissioning oversight delivery process
Deliverables
  • Oversee the development, planning and implementation of the commissioning oversight activities to support the delivery of projects within a portfolio in line with BGIS and client procedural requirements
  • Manage the program within the portfolio for procedural development/review, regulatory and environmental compliance, communications management, risk management and training program review related to supported projects
  • Provides ongoing operational assistance and support to the property team, including building assessments and capital planning support
Communication
  • Communicate and coordinate with National Manager-Commissioning, Portfolio related Managers including the General Manager, Technical Manager, Portfolio Manager, Projects Directors, and Property Managers. Coordinate with building specialists and technical teams on requirements, deliverables, and status of commissioning Oversight deliverables for the portfolio.
  • Assign projects to Commissioning Oversight Specialists, ensuring adequate load and performance
  • Performing Commissioning Oversight Specialist activities as required for selected projects
  • Participate with National Commissioning Working Group meetings and process development
  • Complete and provide reports as required and maintain positive and effective communication with both internal and external clients at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • University degree in related field, electrical, mechanical, building systems engineering or building envelope is preferred
  • Ten years to fifteen years in building operations
  • Five years to ten years in commissioning related activities.
  • Strong understanding of the construction sector.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Effective public speaking skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to develop, analyze and understand complex processes
  • Sound judgment skills based on observation of objective evidence
  • Demonstrated experience in leading professional teams
  • Ability to communicate in French and English
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP or BCxP or CBCP) from BCA, ASHRAE or equivalent certification (or be able to apply to obtain such certification)
  • Member of Professional Engineers Association is an asset
  • Valid Driver's License
