The Department of Housing, Addictions and Homelessness is looking for a qualified candidate to fill a position of Commissary Chef in Winnipeg region. Manitoba Housing provides a wide range of subsidized housing across the province. We partner with other governments, community organizations, and private groups to create and maintain safe and affordable housing where people can thrive. Manitoba Housing offers options for those most in need, addressing housing insecurity and directly managing 12,037 units in 200 communities throughout Manitoba. Conditions of Employment:


Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position such as, standing for long periods, lifting at least 50lbs, and climbing into large delivery vans. Must be able to work in above average temperatures and noise. Must possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check. Must have and maintain a valid Class 5F Driver's Licence.

Qualifications:

Essential:

Red Seal in cooking or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience in preparing large-scale food services and operations. Knowledge of the food services field, techniques, and products. Ability to provide direction, establish work priorities and quality standards. Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare, edit and format documents with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas and relay information clearly and accurately. Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.

Duties:


Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor of Quality Assurance and Training, the Commissary Chef is responsible for food preparation and overall operation of the commissary kitchen. This position oversees a team of Food Service Workers in the preparation and delivery of meals while ensuring that Manitoba Housing's policies (MH), procedures, and guidelines are being followed. The Commissary Chef, following provincial food safety standards, prepares meals based on a set monthly menu, and ensures the kitchen, storage and dining areas are cleaned and maintained.
