POSITION: Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hour work week, as per schedule
HOURLY RATE: $39.12 per hour, Pay Grade 9 – Schedule “B” Outside Workers
Plus additional per hour for the following qualifications:
$1.00 per hour for Commercial Vehicle Inspector
$1.50 per hour for Emergency Vehicle Level 1
$1.50 per hour for Emergency Vehicle Level 2

POSITION SUMMARY:
Working in the City shop alongside other mechanics, the successful applicant for this position
will be responsible for repairing and maintaining company vehicles and equipment among other
duties. At times, this position will also perform the duties of a Truck Driver/Labourer.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Grade 12 Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two (2) years of mechanic trades experience
LICENSES/ CERTS. / DEGREES: Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic Certification
(B.C.) or Heavy-Duty Mechanic Certification
Class 3 driver’s licence with air brakes
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Proven experience with repairing and maintaining
electric/electronic systems and brake systems
(air/hydraulic)
Routine maintenance of motor vehicles and emergency
vehicles
Upkeep of tools and equipment used in carrying out the
duties of mechanic
Experience with computers, including the use of fleet
maintenance software
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A complete set of mechanic hand tools must be supplied
by the incumbent
Ability to attain RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance
