Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting daily operations within the shop, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. This position requires a hands-on approach and a willingness to learn about various aspects of shop operations, including equipment handling and Logging Trucks/Trailers maintenance.

Duties

Assist in the organization and maintenance of logging trucks, trailers on a daily basis. Support the loading and unloading of freight, utilizing proper techniques to prevent damage and ensure safety. Operate heavy equipment as needed, following all safety protocols and guidelines. Provide assistance with repairs, including basic maintenance tasks under the supervision of experienced technicians. Safely operate skid steer to move materials and products within the shop. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects. Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with stock management.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a heavy duty or commercial truck shop environment is preferred. Skills in commercial driving or freight handling are highly desirable. Familiarity with commercial truck operation is a plus. Basic knowledge of commercial truck repair principles is beneficial but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential. Skid steer certification or experience operating it is advantageous. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude. Must be able to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks as required. Must be able to work around the truck schedules. Morning, Afternoon, Nights and weekends. After hours Service calls at a moments notice.
