in our Calgary Branch. Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for responding to bid/tender, design build and residential customer opportunities. This is a full time, permanent position with opportunities for continued growth and a high degree of job task variety.
Responsibilities:
Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation, to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates
Responsible for building relationships with Architects, Engineers and Design Build Consultants
Attending appropriate industry and customer events, entertaining top and prospective customers as appropriate
Sourcing and communicating new business opportunities and market intelligence to the Branch Manager and Director of Sales
Fully understanding CDS' available products, making recommendations, and explaining product application to customer and end users
Following up and qualifying all leads generated
Driving gross margin, win ratios and customer satisfaction metrics within the division
Take verbal requests from customers to create thoughtful, comprehensive quotes
Negotiating with customers on scope additions, issue resolutions, etc., as required
Close and book incoming business
Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements, and prepares itemized list
Prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work
Prepares time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services, applying specialized methodologies, techniques, or processes
Analyze job specifications to ensure all required information for calculating cost is included
Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
Calculate total costs for both proposed and actual jobs to include comparison of quantities and alternative production methods
Maintains liaison with production areas in order to create and record production plans, to include quoting prices for materials and outside services, and verify feasibility of specific jobs in the production stream
Analyzes results of job cost studies to determine accuracy of estimating standards and reports variances to manager

Three or more years of commercial estimating related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven sales record, self-starter, disciplined worker, organized
Computer literate, knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required
Possess a valid driver's license and vehicle
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret tender documents, specification and scope of work description. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
