The Opportunity

This position works out of our Mississauga office in the Diabetes Care Division.

As the Specialist, Commercial Operations (SCO), you\xe2\x80\x99ll be responsible for supporting business relationships between Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) and our commercial partners (ie. Data suppliers, consultants, commercial services companies), and supporting the execution of commercial business processes within the ADC division. The SCO will facilitate the negotiations of Master Services Agreements (MSA) by working with the vendor, ADC project managers, Abbott Legal and other internal stakeholders as required to gain agreement on key terms and conditions. They will identify key risks and involve the appropriate functions to ensure the concerns are addressed appropriately in the agreement.

The SCO will liaise with cross-functional teams (e.g. legal, OEC, Marketing, Finance, etc.) to ensure that all documentation meets Abbott\xe2\x80\x99s Legal, Compliance, and Finance policies. The SCO is responsible for proactively managing documentation for new agreements, tracking the status of documents as they move through the negotiations and approval process, and triggering renewals with existing vendors.

The SCO is responsible for developing, applying and updating the MSA/SOW Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the division. This individual will also ensure that all Abbott Diabetes Care employees are properly trained and follow this SOP.

The SCO will also be a key support resource to support the execution of key operational initiatives. They will ensure ADC meets certain operational commitments with customers and outside agencies (ie. GS1, Environmental Stewardship reporting, pharmacy banners).

The SCO will contribute to the successful delivery of projects by ensuring the delivery of key activities required from the Commercial Operations Team.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do
  • Negotiate with key commercial vendors at times of MSA renewals;
  • Responsible for maintaining the MSA/SOW database for the division;
  • Responsible for tracking the status of all MSA, SOW as well as relevant documentations for Reciprocal Agreements and Educational Grants sponsorships;
  • Ensure proper tracking and monitoring of expenses under all SOWs in place for the division; maintain proper tracker and ensure traceability;
  • Develop, update and apply the MSA/SOW SOP for the division. Ensure that all new employees are trained on the SOP application and follow process in place;
  • Demonstrate leadership in liaising with One-Procurement Team to ensure that Global Procurement Agreements are adjusted to meet the Canadian landscape (Companion Agreements, Amendments, etc.);
  • Liaise with Legal team to ensure ADC\xe2\x80\x99s documentation is always meeting Legal and compliance standards (plan and leads legal context meetings);
  • Liaise and closely work with cross-functional divisional teams (Marketing, Finance) to ensure SOW process is meeting high standards and is compliant;
  • Responsible for maintaining of GS1/ECC Net system data as required. Also serves as our GS1/ ECC Net subject matter expert (SME) and in this role, interacts with both internal and external customers in assuring support for any GS1 requests, updates invoicing or issues;
  • Coordinates filing and payments for Provincial Stewardship programs. Liaises with external consultants to ensure ADC is aware of new/pending requirements and maintains compliance;
  • SCO can take on a number of support roles to ensure the successful and timely delivery of projects within the division.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Project management and process mapping.
  • Negotiation with third party vendors.
  • Ensuring adherence to Ethics, Compliance, and Legal guidelines and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Superior time management and prioritization skills.
  • Understanding of Financial processes (PO, accruals, payment terms).
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Superior skills working with Microsoft Office (mainly Excel and Word).
  • Ability to work in a team environment and management multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
