Reporting to Manager CCS SMB, Commercial Credit Adjudicator II is responsible for adjudicating mid-sized commercial credit applications, ensuring sound, timely, and policy-aligned credit decisions. This role balances risk management and business enablement while supporting ACU's credit quality, compliance, and member service objectives. The adjudicator works closely with Business Account Managers and Credit Solutions team members to ensure high-quality credit analysis, contribute to portfolio health, and provide guidance on credit structuring and risk mitigation strategies. The role supports support Assiniboine Credit Union/ Caisse Assiniboine (ACU)'s commitment to rural and agricultural communities, francophone services, values-based banking and ACU's triple bottom line accountability to people, planet, and prosperity.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Adjudicate moderate-complexity commercial credit applications within assigned approval limits, ensuring decisions aligning with ACU's policies and credit risk appetite.
Review financial statements, assess borrower risk, and ensure appropriate structuring to support sound lending.
Prepare sound credit recommendations and escalate cases as required, providing rationale and risk mitigation strategies.
Provide clear and timely recommendations for credit requests exceeding delegated authority.
Monitor and support management of related exposures within the commercial loan portfolio.
Identify emerging risks, policy exceptions, or trends and escalate to the Manager/AVP Commercial Credit Solutions with recommendations.
Contribute to regular reporting and internal risk management reviews.
Ensure adjudication practices comply with internal policy, regulatory expectations, and audit requirements.
Recommend improvements to credit policies, procedures, and tools to enhance quality and efficiency.
Support accurate and timely completion of Commercial Credit Solutions reporting requirements.
Provide subject matter expertise and informal mentorship to adjudicators and underwriters.
Collaborate with colleagues across Credit Solutions and Business Advisory to ensure cohesive and member-focused lending outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline.
3-5+ years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, or/and adjudication.
Key Occupational Skills
Proven ability to assess moderate to complex credit requests and make consistent, policy-aligned decisions.
Strong credit analysis and financial interpretation skills.
Knowledge of commercial lending practices, policies, and risk management principles.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Sound judgment with the ability to manage risk while enabling business.
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
