Position Overview As a Carpenter/Apprentice you are responsible for day-to-day operational tasks at a project site. Key responsibility entails working on diverse tasks to produce safe, efficient, and quality craftmanship that meet the projects scope. Roles & Responsibilities
\xc2\xb7 Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements \xc2\xb7 Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed \xc2\xb7 Build concrete forms, scaffolding, bridges, trestles, tunnels, shelters, towers, and other structures. \xc2\xb7 Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements. \xc2\xb7 Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes and in using measuring tools. \xc2\xb7 Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. \xc2\xb7 Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment. \xc2\xb7 Build foundations and other concrete formed structures, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems \xc2\xb7 Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware. \xc2\xb7 Maintain, repair and renovate commercial buildings and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, schools, parkades, institutional buildings and other establishments. \xc2\xb7 Maintain a daily log of tasks and hazard assessment cards.
Required Experience and Education:
\xc2\xb7 Residential and Commercial Construction: Years of experience depending on level of Journeyman (at least 5 years) to Apprentice (1-4 years) \xc2\xb7 Proven work experience in construction management \xc2\xb7 In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and safety guidelines \xc2\xb7 Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards \xc2\xb7 The ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time. \xc2\xb7 Completion of CSTS, First Aid, Confined Space, Fall Protection, H2S and carpentry or forming experience \xc2\xb7 Understanding of all facets of the construction process \xc2\xb7 Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints \xc2\xb7 The ability to travel and work flexible shifts, which include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays. Job Type: Full-time Salary: $30.00-$38.00 per hour Benefits:
