The Commercial Banking Advisor is responsible to create and maintain strong member relationships, proactively promote and support credit union commercial products, provide support to all credit union staff, and manage a portfolio of non-borrowing commercial members. They are also product champions and support the Commercial Relationship Managers in the sales and set up of products including, but not limited to loan facilities, current accounts, electronic banking services, and credit cards. They also strengthen member relationships by identifying and completing referrals to third party credit union partners such as merchant services, payroll services, wealth management, etc.


Key responsibilities of the role include:




1. Sales, Service & Growth




Serve as a primary contact for commercial branch members, providing exceptional service, guidance, and support for day-to-day banking needs. Onboard new commercial members by setting up accounts, completing required documentation, and providing training on electronic banking and funds transfer systems. Act as product champion and subject matter expert for online banking, electronic funds transfer, and credit card services--training staff and addressing inquiries or changes as needed. Support Commercial Relationship Managers by processing credit card and loan documentation, completing postings, and following up on outstanding credit conditions. Conduct searches, prepare security documentation, and administer renewals, discharges, and releases in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements. Provide advice and recommendations on investment, deposit, and credit union products to support business growth and member satisfaction. Maintain assigned non-borrowing commercial portfolios and develop member relationships through proactive communication and service excellence. Identify and refer opportunities to Relationship Managers, retail, and wealth teams to support business development initiatives. Perform ongoing administrative duties including report audits, account maintenance, and general departmental support. Participate in achieving sales targets and marketing objectives through member engagement and business development activities.

2. Risk Management & Compliance




Supports staff by addressing and resolving escalated employee concerns and workplace issues. Assists with the reviews of Risk Management policies and procedures (including but not limited to robbery, money laundering, privacy and branch security) on an annual basis. Adheres to security procedures as they relate to the position. Monitors commercial account overdraft activity to ensure accounts operate within limits and qualify from a risk standpoint. Ensures appropriate action is taken to minimize losses to the credit union. Provides credit information to other third parties as required financial institutions within privacy act guidelines. Keeps abreast of current regulatory and industry guidelines, requirements and practices regarding commercial investment, and lending opportunities.



The ideal candidate will have completed a Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business Administration plus have



2-5 years industry experience including:



Advanced knowledge of commercial Lending practices and financial principles Advanced knowledge of policies and regulatory environment Advanced communication skills (oral, written) Advanced ability in sales, promotion and referrals Advanced knowledge of relationship building skills Advanced attention to detail Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications Proficient critical thinking, ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment Working knowledge of reading financial statements, performing analysis and fact finding Working Knowledge of compliance and privacy requirements Working knowledge of wealth management practices Working knowledge of lending practices and financial principles
