Commercial Auto Underwriter (IRCA)As an Intermediate Underwriter specializing in Commercial Auto (IRCA), you will be pivotal in evaluating, pricing, and accepting risks, ensuring adherence to company guidelines and underwriting standards. You will actively engage in business development, fostering strong relationships with our partners in Commercial Auto. This position is fully remote in and around Edmonton or Calgary. The successful candidate will need to travel to broker visits and so its important the reside near the city center.

• Risk Assessment & Policy Management: Evaluate, select, negotiate, and price policies to maintain a profitable book of business within your underwriting authority.
• Data Management: Accurately enter policy information to ensure timely transaction processing.
• Policy Review: Analyze endorsements, renewals, reissues, and cancellations in line with corporate standards and guidelines.
• Risk Analysis: Assess new business risks by reviewing underwriting data to determine exposures and hazards.
• Authority Compliance: Operate within assigned authority levels, maintaining compliance with company policies.
• Relationship Building: Develop and sustain professional relationships with brokers and customers to understand the target market, enhance service quality, solve problems, and select risks effectively.
• Broker Visits: Conduct visits to brokers to strengthen relationships and communication.
• Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, developments, and regulatory changes, including competitive analysis.
• Customer Collaboration: Work closely with brokers and customers to support business retention and ensure customer satisfaction through regular interactions.
• Education & Communication: Educate brokers on corporate underwriting philosophy, policies, and procedures.
• Best Practices: Apply best business practices to ensure compliance, internal control, and operational risk management.
• Performance Reviews: Assist in monitoring pricing, risk selection, and data quality performance.

Who You Are:

• Experience: 3-5 years in commercial auto underwriting.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in underwriting techniques, guidelines, rating programs, risk information sources, coverages, underwriting/technical manual information, statutory constraints, and computer workflow procedures. Knowledge of Guidewire, RTM, Passport is an asset.
• Licensing CIP designation or actively pursuing CIP courses.
• Computer Proficiency: Skilled in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
