We are looking for a skilled Commercial and Construction Litigation Associate to join our clients dynamic team in Toronto, Ontario. This role offers the chance to work on diverse legal matters, including complex litigation cases, while collaborating with a highly experienced group. Responsibilities:

  • Handle a variety of litigation cases related to commercial and construction law, including breach of contract and construction delay claims.
  • Manage Construction Lien claims and navigate shareholder disputes, oppression claims, and derivative actions.
  • Address engineering and architectural issues, property loss or damage cases, and insurance-related property claims.
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare persuasive legal documents to support litigation strategies.
  • Represent clients effectively in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing clear and strategic advice tailored to their needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative legal strategies and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manage independent case files while maintaining a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services.
  • Stay informed about developments in construction and commercial law to maintain expertise in the field.
  • Contribute to the firm's reputation for excellence through efficient and strategic litigation practices.
Requirements:
  • Possess a minimum of four years of experience in litigation, with a focus on construction and/or commercial law.
  • Demonstrate expertise in handling breach of contract claims, construction delays, and Construction Lien matters.
  • Exhibit strong analytical skills and the ability to draft clear, precise, and persuasive legal documents.
  • Showcase excellent negotiation and communication abilities to effectively advocate for clients.
  • Have proven experience in managing shareholder disputes, oppression claims, and derivative actions.
  • Display proficiency in addressing engineering and architectural issues, as well as property loss or insurance-related claims.
  • Bring effective practice management skills, including independent file carriage and client relationship building.
  • Commit to delivering high-quality legal services that achieve optimal outcomes for clients.
