The Brenda Strafford Foundation (BSF) is a charitable organization that currently owns and operates five Aging Care & Senior Living communities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB. We take pride in providing a safe, caring, and comfortable home environment that caters to the complex needs of our senior residents and families. Locally, in Calgary, BSF also operates Alberta's largest second-stage shelter providing safe shelter and comprehensive support services to women and children leaving abuse and violence.

The Role:

The

Comfort Care Aide (CCA)

plays a vital support role at The Brenda Strafford Foundation, providing compassionate, person-centered care and companionship to residents during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, the CCA enhances the overall well-being, comfort, and safety of residents by assisting with non-clinical duties, visitation support, meal services, and infection prevention protocols.

Companionship & Resident Engagement



Spend quality time with residents through conversation, games, reading, and crafts. Support group and individual recreational activities.

Family & Visitation Support



Help residents connect with loved ones through video or in-person visits. Assist with phones/tablets and ensure all visitation safety protocols are followed.

Meal Assistance



Help residents prepare for meals (e.g., open packages, set up trays). Escort residents to and from dining areas as needed.

Infection Prevention & Control



Keep PPE stocked and high-touch surfaces sanitized. Screen staff and visitors for symptoms and check temperatures. Maintain hygiene and cleanliness throughout the facility.

Reception & Administration



Answer phones, take messages, and support deliveries and supplies.

Health & Safety



Report hazards, incidents, or changes in resident behaviour. Respond to emergencies and follow safety procedures. Use equipment safely and follow WHMIS standards.

Professionalism & Conduct



Present a respectful, professional image at all times. Foster a positive, inclusive work culture through teamwork and clear communication.

Education:



Minimum Grade 10 education

Experience:



Previous experience with geriatric or vulnerable populations preferred Strong organizational and multitasking skills Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle interruptions
