Summary
CLI College of Business, Health & Technology
is seeking a part-time daytime combined/hybrid class instructor for our
Mental Health & Addictions
diploma program. The successful candidate will have at least 4 years of experience in the field of mental health and addictions, a degree in psychology or social work, and a minimum of 1 year of adult teaching/facilitator experience. Hands-on experience with D2L Brightspace is preferred. We are looking for a mature candidate who has excellent classroom management skills, highly relevant skills, practical skills, outstanding communication abilities, a great attitude, and a positive, friendly demeanor.
Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of mental health & addictions.
Utilize D2L Brightspace to record grades, attendance, and facilitate the program.
Instruct curriculum using D2L, and pre-authorized and college-provided materials only.
Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, and independent or group projects.
Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate the subject matter to diverse students.
Administer and mark quizzes, assignments, exams, presentations, and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students' progress according to guidelines and procedures.
Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly.
Provide feedback on student performance.
Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course.
Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multicultural environment.
Resolve student complaints and concerns effectively, with a positive and professional attitude.
Maintain attendance records accurately.
Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at the end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources.
Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or their future career.
Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation.
Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information.
Stay current in the subject matter through professional development.
Display an attitude of teamwork and problem-solving.
Perform other related duties as required.
Skills Required
Above-average knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems) is essential.
A minimum of 1 year of adult teaching experience is mandatory.
Degree or diploma in psychology, social work, or related field.
Capstone knowledge and experience.
Ability to work with D2L Brightspace to record grades, attendance, and facilitate the program.
Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication to present information in a way students will understand.
Ability to demonstrate required outcomes in a variety of different learning styles.
Professional business attire and outstanding interpersonal skills.
Excellent oral, written, verbal, and listening communication skills are critical.
Ability to maintain engagement by presenting information to students utilizing different teaching techniques.
Classroom management and classroom experience are mandatory.
Be a positive influence as a mentor and role model.
Qualifications
Degree or diploma from a recognized University or College in a relevant discipline.
Four years of practical experience in a related field, or two years of practical experience and three years of teaching experience
A credential in adult education or in progress from an accredited post-secondary institution is preferred
- D2L Brightspace experience preferred
Current membership / license with a relevant regulatory body preferred.
Satisfy specific position qualifications as prescribed in program design and program approval for the instruction of the courses
Must be able to work in Canada and have the required documentation
