La personne salariee de cette classe d'emplois exerce une surveillance dans l'etablissement scolaire et ses dependances pour s'assurer du respect des reglements et voir a la securite des eleves; elle effectue des rondes, donne des avertissements, note et signale les derogations aux personnes designees; elle accueille et dirige les eleves et les visiteurs; elle donne des explications concernant la reglementation; au besoin, elle donne son avis pour l'elaboration et l'evaluation des reglements; au besoin, elle peut exercer la surveillance des eleves lors des examens, dans un local de retenue ou de retrait et en classe lors d'absences momentanees d'une enseignante ou d'un enseignant; elle surveille les eleves a bord ou a l'arrivee et au depart des autobus scolaires.
En plus d'exercer une surveillance dans une cafeteria, elle aide les eleves, qui le requierent, a manger. Elle peut aider certains eleves a s'habiller, a se deshabiller, et, le cas echeant, a se deplacer.
En collaboration avec le personnel enseignant et les membres des services complementaires, elle participe au deroulement et a la surveillance d'activites etudiantes. Elle s'assure de la disponibilite du materiel et des accessoires necessaires pour certaines activites.
Dans la mesure de ses competences et selon la politique d'encadrement des eleves de l'ecole, elle intervient pour maintenir un environnement securitaire, notamment pour faire cesser les bagarres et autres agressions; le cas echeant, elle assiste la direction concernee lors de fouilles de casiers ou d'eleves, elle avise les policiers et collabore avec eux, elle peut etre appelee a temoigner au tribunal, elle participe a la redaction des rapports d'accident et de vol et elle prodigue les premiers soins.
Elle verrouille et deverrouille les locaux et barrieres; elle attribue des casiers; elle attribue et recupere des cadenas; elle aide les eleves qui ont perdu leur clef et d'autres objets.
Elle visionne les cassettes video ayant servi pour la surveillance de nuit et informe la direction des anomalies observees; elle prepare le magnetoscope pour l'enregistrement suivant.
Elle participe au controle d'absences; elle recueille les listes ou fiches d'eleves absents, peut etre appelee a saisir ces donnees a l'ordinateur et effectue les compilations demandees; elle emet des avis de retard, les compile et en avise la direction selon la procedure etablie; elle appelle les parents pour s'enquerir des motifs d'absence de leur enfant.
Elle peut etre appelee a utiliser un ordinateur et les divers logiciels necessaires pour l'execution de ses travaux.
Au besoin, elle accomplit toute autre tache connexe.
Qualifications
requises
Scolarite
et
experience
Etre titulaire d'un diplome de 5e annee du secondaire ou etre titulaire d'un diplome ou d'une attestation d'etudes dont l'equivalence est reconnue par l'autorite competente, et avoir une (1) annee d'experience pertinente ayant permis d'acquerir une discipline personnelle, des notions generales de psychologie et des aptitudes sur le plan des relations humaines.
Autre
exigence
Etre titulaire d'un document datant d'au plus trois (3) ans, attestant la reussite :
soit d'un cours de secourisme general d'une duree minimale de huit (8) heures;
soit d'un cours d'appoint d'une duree minimale de six (6) heures visant la mise a jour des connaissances acquises dans le cadre du cours mentionne au paragraphe precedent.

Nature
of
the
work
The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in ensuring that students adhere to the school policy on discipline.
Characteristic
functions
The employee in this class of employment supervises students in the school and its buildings to ensure that rules are observed and that students are safe; makes rounds, gives warnings, observes and reports any abnormal situations to the persons designated; greets and directs students and visitors; explains regulations; if necessary, gives advice concerning the drawing up and evaluation of regulations; may supervise students during exams, in detention or isolation rooms or in the classroom, when the teacher is absent for a short period; supervises students during the arrival and departure of school buses as well as on the school bus.
In addition to supervision duties in the cafeteria, helps students, who so require, to eat. May help certain students dress, undress and, where applicable, move around.
In conjunction with teachers and the student services staff, participates in carrying out and supervising student activities. Makes sure that the necessary material and accessories are available for certain activities.
Within competence and according to the school policy, the employee maintains a safe environment, particularly in stopping fights and other acts of aggression; where applicable, assists the school administration concerned when conducting locker or student searches; notifies the police and works with the latter; may be called upon to act as a witness in court; participates in preparing accident and theft reports and administers first aid.
Locks and unlocks rooms and gates; assigns lockers and locks; ensures return of locks; helps students who have lost keys or other articles.
Views the videocassettes used for night surveillance and notifies the administration of any abnormal situation observed; prepares the videotape recorder for the next recording.
Participates in monitoring absences; collects the student absence lists or sheets, may be required to enter this data in the computer and carry out the compilations requested; issues and compiles late slips and so informs the administration according to the procedure established; calls parents to inquire why their child is absent.
May be required to use a computer and the necessary software to perform duties.
If need be, performs any other related duty.

qualifications
Schooling
and
experience
Hold a Secondary School Diploma or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority, and have one (1) year of pertinent experience in those areas requiring self-discipline, general concepts in psychology and human relations skills.
Other
requirements
Hold a certificate dated no more than three (3) years attesting to the successful completion of:
a standard first aid course of a minimum eight (8)-hour duration;
a refresher course of a minimum six (6)-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the course mentioned in subparagraph 1.
