La personne salariee de cette classe d'emplois aide l'eleve dans ses deplacements; elle guide son fauteuil roulant, elle l'aide en le changeant de posture et, selon les besoins, a le transferer de fauteuil. Pour son mieux-etre, elle l'aide a boire et a manger lors des collations et des repas et, au besoin, elle rechauffe les aliments; elle l'aide a s'habiller et a se deshabiller. Elle voit a son hygiene; elle l'aide a se laver, elle l'aide aux cabinets d'aisance; au besoin, elle le change de couche et le lave. Elle voit a sa securite a partir du debarquement et jusqu'a l'embarquement a bord des vehicules de transport
Elle soutient le personnel enseignant en l'aidant a communiquer des notions de base concernant la proprete, la facon de s'habiller, de boire et de manger. Elle aide l'eleve a utiliser ou manipule pour lui le materiel et les objets necessaires a la preparation et au deroulement d'activites pedagogiques et etudiantes. Elle peut etre appelee a accompagner l'eleve lors de sessions de physiotherapie, d'ergotherapie ou de detente corporelle et musculaire.
Elle note ses observations concernant les besoins et les comportements de l'eleve et peut etre appelee a en informer le personnel enseignant, les parents et les autres intervenantes et intervenants designes et a donner son avis sur les mesures precisees au plan d'intervention qui la concernent.
Elle surveille les eleves lors de la recreation, de la periode de diner, de la sieste, des temps de loisirs et les accompagne a la piscine. Elle les aide a comprendre et a respecter les consignes de l'ecole.
Au besoin, elle administre les medicaments selon les prescriptions medicales et conformement a la politique d'encadrement des eleves de l'ecole et aux instructions des parents; elle procure les premiers soins. Elle prend les moyens necessaires pouvant favoriser le retour au calme des eleves lors de crise en s'assurant de sa propre securite et celle des autres.
Elle lave et, au besoin, desinfecte certains vetements, la vaisselle, les tables, les ortheses et le materiel servant aux activites des eleves.
Elle peut etre appelee a utiliser un ordinateur et les divers logiciels necessaires pour l'execution de ses travaux.
Au besoin, elle accomplit toute autre tache connexe.
Qualifications

Scolarite

experience
Etre titulaire d'un diplome d'etudes professionnelles en assistance a la personne en etablissement de sante ou un diplome de 5e annee du secondaire ou etre titulaire d'un diplome ou d'une attestation d'etudes dont l'equivalence est reconnue par l'autorite competente, et avoir une (1) annee d'experience pertinente ayant permis d'acquerir une discipline personnelle, des notions generales de psychologie et des aptitudes sur le plan des relations humaines.

Nature
of
the
Work
The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in assisting handicapped students in participating in activities related to their schooling. Assists a student in moving from one location to another, ensures the students well-being, hygiene and safety according to the instructions received in keeping with the individualized education plan.
Characteristic
functions
The employee in this class of employment assists the student in moving from one location to another; pushes wheelchair, helps to change position and, if necessary, to transfer to another chair. For the student's added comfort, helps the student drink and eat during snacks and meals and, if necessary, reheats foods; helps get them dressed and undressed. Ensures the student's personal hygiene; helps wash; helps in the washroom; if necessary, changes the students diaper. Ensures the student's safety when getting off and on vehicles;
Assists teachers in conveying to students basic concepts regarding cleanliness, dressing, drinking and eating. Helps students to use or, handles for them, the materials and objects necessary for preparing and carrying out pedagogical and student activities. May be required to accompany a student to physiotherapy, occupational therapy or body and muscle relaxation sessions;
Records observations concerning a student's needs and behaviour and may be required to inform teachers, parents and other designated staff and give advice on the measures specified in the individualized education plan;
Supervises students during recess, meal periods, naptime and recreation time and accompanies them to the pool. Helps them to understand and respect school rules;
If necessary, administers medication according to medical requirements and the school policy in effect and to the parents' instructions; administers first aid. Takes the necessary measures to help the student calm down following a fit while ensuring their own safety and that of others;
Washes and, if necessary, disinfects articles of clothing, dinnerware, tables, orthotic devices and material used for student activities;
May be required to use a computer and the necessary software to perform duties;
If need be, performs any other related duty.
Qualifications
Required
Schooling
and
experience
Hold a Diploma of College Studies in special education techniques or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
Other
requirements
Hold a certificate dated no more than three (3) years attesting to the successful completion of:
A standard first aid course of a minimum eight (8)-hour duration;
A refresher course of a minimum six (6)-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the course mentioned in subparagraph 1.
Experience working with students who have ASD
Experience working with students who have high behavior needs.
