Position Summary



We are seeking a skilled Coil Winder to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for winding a wide variety of transformer coils with precision and attention to detail, supporting both production targets and quality standards. This role requires mechanical aptitude, craftsmanship, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities



Operate both high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) coil-winding machines to produce high-quality windings for dry-type transformers ranging from 15 to 1000 KVA Prepare insulation materials, set up winding equipment, and complete tear-down and cleanup after production Set up and adjust winding equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications Accurately read and interpret winding schematics and detailed winding instructions Prepare, measure, and inspect copper and aluminum conductors for size, batch integrity, and compliance with production standards Conduct ongoing quality inspections throughout the winding process, including dimensional checks and visual inspections Maintain accurate production records, including labour hours, quality control documentation, and batch traceability Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturability and provide feedback for process improvements Identify and kit parts by cross-referencing bills of materials (BOM) and engineering drawings Load and offload cylinders and conductors onto winding racks safely and efficiently Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of machinery Follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols, including proper operation of overhead cranes, material handling equipment, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Qualifications & Requirements



Minimum

1 year of experience

in coil winding, electrical assembly, or related mechanical trade (transformer manufacturing experience preferred) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and winding instructions Proficient in the use of hand tools, measurement devices (e.g., calipers, tape measures), and basic machine setup Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity High attention to detail, precision, and commitment to quality Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to

50 lbs

, and work in a production environment Willingness to obtain necessary safety certifications, including WHMIS, Crane Operation, and others as required Forklift and/or overhead crane operation experience is considered an asset Experience with copper and aluminum welding (TIG) is considered an asset Versatility to assist with other machinery or manufacturing tasks within the factory is considered an asset
