, is a social enterprise coffee shop that provides high-quality coffee while creating meaningful employment and training opportunities for program participants.
The Role
We are seeking a
Coffee Shop Manager
to oversee the launch and day-to-day operations of Ruth's Coffee, located within a local church. This role combines operational leadership with social impact. You will ensure excellent customer service, product quality, and financial sustainability while mentoring participants in work placements and helping them develop job skills for future employment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily coffee shop operations: staffing, scheduling, ordering, inventory, and POS systems.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food service regulations.
Hire, train, and supervise staff, including program participants.
Mentor and coach participants, aligning placements with personal development goals.
Maintain strong collaboration with Program Managers and the Employment Program Coordinator.
Develop menu offerings and support marketing and community engagement initiatives.
Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment that reflects our mission.
Key Performance Indicators
Successful coffee shop launch within budget and timeline.
Achievement of sales, staffing, and inventory targets.
Positive customer feedback and repeat business.
Effective onboarding, training, and mentorship of program participants.
Strong collaboration with program staff to achieve employment program goals.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of management experience in a cafe, restaurant, or retail food service.
Experience in social services or employment support is an asset.
Strong staff supervision, training, and mentorship skills.
Knowledge of inventory management and financial tracking.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
FoodSafe Level 1 required (Level 2 an asset).

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $52,000-$58,000 (dependent on experience)

Full-time role based in our Yarrow Coffee Shop with some time spent in office at our Princess Ave location
Hours may vary week to week to support both coffee shop operations and program participants
