One of our major Telecommunications clients is looking for a COBOL Programmer/ Developer
Length: 8 months contract with the strong possibility of extension
Location: Remote - Canada , in office once every 2-3 months if residing at a reasonable distance to Mississauga
Hours of Work per Day: 7.5
Business Unit: Healthcare
Project: Ontario Ministry of Health\'s Ontario Drug Benefits Program
Security Clearance: Will need to get Government of Ontario clearanceIDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate must have a robust and hands-on background in software development using the COBOL programming language.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES (including but are not limited to):

• Design, code, test, and debug software of high complexity using COBOL
• Be involved in all aspects of the agile project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design, development, integration and implementation
• Participate in Dev Ops and Tier3 technical support
• Investigate, troubleshoot and fix live problems based on alerts raised by the monitoring tools and issues reported by customers
• Systems analysis and design, system modelling, performance modelling, integration planning and technology and component selection to ensure architectural consistency and coherence between technical and business processes
• Participate in the creation of technical design documentation (e.g. Detail Design and Architecture Blueprint documents)

• Cobol programming language, COBOL85
• 10 years of programming experience
• Native COBOL
• INSPECT/xINSPECT
• TACL
• SCOBOL/FUP/ENSCRIBE
• TAL
• PATHWAY/GUARDIAN
• OSS

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:

• HPE Nonstop experience
• Oracle/SQL database experience
• Java Developer experience
• SQL MP/MX
• Knowledge of the Healthcare Industry
• Health-related system design, development, and integration
• Client/server experience
• ECLIPSE/BITBUCKET/GIT
• SOAP/JSON/REST
• POWERBUILDER

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

• Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Health Information Science or equivalent
