Job Description

Cabin Operations Ltd, a leader in environmental restoration, civil construction, recreation projects and Wildfire Mitigation is seeking a dynamic and motivated Coastal Business Manager to lead our expansion efforts in the Coastal Region of BC. Based in Nanaimo, this role focuses on developing and growing our business in the central and north island regions and Lower Mainland opportunities.





The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for building relationships, managing projects, and driving business development in a competitive and meaningful industry.





Being a new Geographic area for our business the successful candidate will need to be a bit of a jack of all trades and wear a few different hats as we establish a new branch and local team.

Key Responsibilities:



• Identify and develop business opportunities and close sales for the Environmental, Recreation and Wildfire Business Lines throughout Vancouver Island and the Southern coastal region of B.C.
• Drive Business Development activities with the goal to fill the work funnel across all twelve months of the year creating consistent work and work balance for the operational teams.
• Collaborate with Division Managers and General Manager to refine the growth strategy for the Coastal Operations unit.
• Identifying Strategic Partners and initiating collaborative discussions with the goal of generating revenue opportunities
• Develop meaningful connections with partners, such as First Nations and local suppliers and contractors that can provide skilled labour for projects.
• Build a presence in the local Communities(Nanaimo, Parksville, Courtney-Comox, Sooke)and lead some volunteer initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local businesses, community stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate with internal teams to plan and execute projects, ensuring alignment with client needs and company standards.
• Lead project planning sessions, coordinate estimating, tender submissions and contract negotiation.
• Represent the company at networking events, trade shows, and community meetings to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
• Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to inform business strategies.




Mandatory Qualifications:



• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven experience in business development , with a successful track record of growing revenue and client base.
• Experience in project coordination , particularly within construction or environmental industries.
• Familiarity with the local business community in Vancouver Island, particularly in the central/north region.




Preferred skills or Qualities that would be advantageous:



• If you are an active community person, active in business and in your personal life that would be very advantageous to being successful in this role.
• Experience in business development for construction companies specializing in:
+ Creek diversions
+ Ecosystem restoration
+ Stormwater management
+ Sediment and erosion control
+ Recreation trail development
+ Construction of bridges and boardwalks
• Knowledge of regional environmental and construction regulations and best practices.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
