Our Bus Maintenance and Shops Department is currently seeking Apprentices for our Coach and Automotive Technicians program! These positions are required to work a 40 hour work week involving various shifts with various off-days, and possibly statutory holidays.
In this position, you may be required to primarily work on a designated job assignment (e.g. Inspections, Dynometer Operator, Engines, etc.)
What You Will Do?
---------------------
Acquiring all required skill sets as outlined by Skilled Trades Ontario by successfully completing a roughly 6,700 hours training program (approximately 3-4 Years)
Working under the direction of a licensed Coach Technician and acquire knowledge and skills on a variety of automotive systems and components
Will be exposed to all areas of Duncan Shops and Bus Garages in order to become proficient in the repair and maintenance of buses
Emphasis is on engine rebuilding, hybrid propulsion systems, diesel fuel injection, air brake systems, vehicle electrical systems, air conditioning systems and heavy-duty suspension systems
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and associated examinations, graduates will be classified as Coach Technicians (Wage Group 12) and will be assigned to the first available vacancy in a Bus Garage or Duncan Shop in accordance with the Maintenance Seniority Regulations
Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer
Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. What Skills and Qualifications Do You Bring?

Completed Grade 12 Technical School (with courses in English, mathematics, science and technology or equivalent) and majoring in automotive technology (both in Grades 11 and 12) or have successfully completed an equivalent automotive certificate program through a recognized community college
Must possess a valid non-probationary Class "G" or better Ontario driver's license
Successful applicants will be required to attend and successfully complete TTC in-house courses including but not necessarily limited to: direct current fundamentals; automotive circuits; air conditioning and CFC certification; multiplex wiring, electronic transmission and engine controls, passenger accessibility equipment, and CZ license upgrade/verification
Must provide a set of hand tools as per the tool list established by the TTC
Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
