Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Water Jet Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating water jet cutting equipment to produce precise components according to technical specifications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and proficiency with various machining and fabrication tools. The CNC Water Jet Operator plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality production standards and efficient workflow within our manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC water jet cutting machines, ensuring accurate alignment and calibration for each job. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine cutting parameters. Program CNC water jet equipment using CAD/CAM software, incorporating GD&T standards for precision. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on water jet machinery to minimize downtime. Select appropriate tooling and abrasive materials for different materials such as sheet metal and composites. Conduct quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects involving plasma cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, welding, and other machining processes as needed. Assist with material handling using forklifts or cranes when required. Document production activities accurately for quality control and process improvement purposes.

Experience

Proven experience operating CNC water jet cutting equipment in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Familiarity with CNC programming using CAD/CAM software is highly desirable. Knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and quality inspection techniques. Experience with other machining processes such as CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, stamping presses, or electrical discharge machining is a plus. Mechanical knowledge related to tooling setup, fabrication techniques, and the use of hand tools is preferred. Prior experience working with sheet metal or fabricating components from various materials is advantageous. Strong understanding of safety procedures related to machining operations including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
