Job Description

We're a Toronto-based startup specializing in the production of swords for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). Our work includes CNC Machining, steel heat treatment, finishing, and 3D printing.

We are looking for a detail-oriented CNC Manufacturing Technician to join our team as we increase production. The successful candidate will operate a CNC Vertical Machining Centre, perform quality control checks on intermediate and final products, straighten swords following heat treatment, and hand-finish steel products. Training will be provided. Strong attention to detail and ability to perceive straightness of swords is required.

Responsibilities:

Operate a CNC Vertical Machining Centre (CNC88 controller) Perform quality control on intermediate and final products using precision measurement instruments. Straighten unsharpened training swords using heat and purpose built tools. Hand-finish steel products using a belt grinder and hand tools. Support day-to-day production across a variety of tasks as best suited to the candidate's skills. Maintain shop organization and safety standards. Opportunities to contribute to the design of new products.

Requirements:

At least 1 year of manufacturing experience (any process or material) At least 1 year of experience operating CNC machines Aptitude for steel hand-finishing Ability to identify by eye precisely where a long thin steel object is slightly bent or curved. Strong attention to detail, with commitment to quality and safety. Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.

Bonus Qualifications:

2+ years of manufacturing experience. Experience in steel hand-finishing Ability to read, produce, and interpret technical drawings. Experience with 3D printing, machine maintenance, heat treatment, quality control, packaging, or shipping. Familiarity or interest in sword manufacturing, historical weaponry or fencing, heat treatment, and/or metal finishing. Driver's license.
