who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment. This is a senior-level position where you'll run and program CNC mills and lathes, optimize set-ups, and help coach and mentor our growing team of junior machinists.
You'll work on short-run and prototype jobs -- some days 2-5 small jobs with multiple set-ups, other days long runs lasting several days. Our primary focus is machining
plastics and elastomers
, but we also produce our own aluminum molds and occasionally take on small external machining projects.
What You'll Do
Program and run CNC equipment for plastics, elastomers, and aluminum molds
Perform multiple set-ups per day and ensure efficient workflow
Support and coach junior machinists to improve skills and productivity
Review drawings or samples to estimate run times, tooling, and set-up requirements
Suggest process improvements and machining best practices
Collaborate with management on new machining opportunities
as a CNC machinist/programmer
Strong knowledge of CNC programming for Haas machines (mills and lathes)
Experience with plastics and elastomers (preferred) and aluminum mold work
Ability to work efficiently with short-run and one-off jobs
Comfortable mentoring and training less experienced machinists
Self-motivated, fast-paced, and adaptable to changing priorities
Proven experience working as a Machinist in a manufacturing/production environment
Ability to read prints and technical manuals.
Ability to follow precise instructions and prescriptions.
Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Advanced understanding of Machine operations and diagnostics.
Ability to trouble-shoot and repair heavy machinery.
Ability to effectively diagnose machine malfunctions and concisely communicate detailed root cause(s) of malfunctions.
Ability to adapt to new technologies and manage multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines.
Adaptable to change and willing to cross-train and mentor new staff and to work effectively in a team environment.
Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
Great attention to detail, quality control and organizational skills.
Superb analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Intermediate-level proficiency in computer skills or a demonstrated ability to quickly acquire proficiency.
