The position of CNC Lathe Machinist (Hard Turning) is responsible for set up and operation of CNC lathe machine to machine internal and external diameters and forms on hardened steel injection mold components. The incumbent will demonstrate experience machining components to tight tolerances. This position will report to the Manufacturing Manager, Finishing department

Please note this position is for afternoon shift - Monday to Thursday from 4pm to 2:30am.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interpret engineering drawings to determine specifications, set up and operating requirements
• Complete first run inspection and complete spot checks for conformance to specifications
• Ensure effective production of quality parts by completing in-process and final checks using gauges and measuring equipment
• Set up and operate a CNC Lathe to produce finished components/parts
• Work to defined tolerances
• Write, edit and load CNC programs
• Observe numerical displays on control panel and compare with data on process sheets to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates and speeds or machining cuts.

TECHNICAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• 3-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 of relevant hands-on machining experience, preference in a machine shop setting
• Preference given to completion of post secondary education or apprenticeship in General Machining or CNC programming
• Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and verbal instructions
• Strong in math and computer skills
• Ability to use precision measuring tools to ensure specifications and tight tolerances are met.
