Job Title- Cloud System Administrator

Location- Edmonton and Calgary

Role Type- Hybrid

ATCO is hybrid work environment, and the successful candidate will be required to work part-time in the ATCO office in either downtown Edmonton or west Calgary. Only candidates living in those cities who are willing to relocate prior to the start date at their own expense will be considered for this position. The Cloud System Administrator will be expected to be the key administrator for the ATCO multi-cloud environment, which includes Azure and GCP. This position will be expected to work with operational support and project teams to understand technical requirements for the cloud platforms and assist with translating their requirements and assist with design and implementation as required. The Cloud System Administrator will provide subject matter expertise for ATCO\'s multi-cloud environment and will be expected to work with the infrastructure and application support teams as required.

The Cloud System Administrator will be responsible for monitoring the ongoing costs of the multi-cloud environment and making recommendations for continuous improvement and optimum utilization. In addition, this position will be responsible for oversight of the health and operations of the multi-cloud environment, with a focus on proactive capacity planning, maintenance/backups, and operational events monitoring. The Cloud System Administrator will be expected to have a strong knowledge of Azure, with a working knowledge of GCP and will be expected to build a strong understanding of ATCO\'s current various IaaS and PaaS subscriptions and components. The Cloud System Administrator determines if current cloud solutions will meet requirements, and if not, will work with the EA Design Authority and Cloud Vendor support to recommend new cloud solutions where required. In addition, the Cloud System Administrator should have an awareness of the overall ATCO business enterprise and ATCO enterprise-wide IT architecture and be available to understand the issues and implications and work with Cybersecurity and Enterprise Architecture on proposed cloud technical solutions.

Only those candidates with current, appropriate Azure Certifications will be considered.

What You Get To Do:

  • Technical oversight of all IaaS and PaaS environments.
  • Oversight of service providers responsible for managing ATCO cloud environments.
  • Manage cloud services using cloud management tools and interfaces.
  • Assists in investigation of ATCO cloud technical problems and develops recommendations for resolution.
  • Overseeing service providers\' performance of overall technical administrations duties, including but not limited to:
  • Emergency security changes
  • Provisioning of new cloud environment services
  • Service account management oversight
  • Review vendor recommended IaaS and PaaS patching, monthly maintenance, and backups.
  • Ensure monthly cost of all cloud environments do not go over defined usage.
  • Collaborate with team members to assist in technical decisions that affect operations or projects.
  • Acts as an escalation point for technical questions about ATCO cloud technical requirements, involving the Design Authority as required.
  • Escalate concerns regarding operational or project risks and issues, including vendor concerns, to leadership.
  • Attending root cause analysis meetings after an incident if Cloud related.
  • Responsible for the continued documentation of ATCO cloud technical requirements and solutions.
  • Review and ensure existing ATCO cloud technical documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Support ATCO initiatives as new or enhanced cloud solutions/projects are being considered.
  • Assist in the translation of business requirements into ATCO cloud technical requirements and/or solutions.
  • Contribute to the formulation and definition of system scope and objective based on operational or project requirements as they relate to ATCO cloud infrastructure.
  • Determine if internal or external ATCO cloud solutions exist or whether new solutions are required and feasible, working with the Cybersecurity and EA Design Authority.
  • Collaborate with the EA and Design Authority to ensure that the ATCO multi-cloud environment follows existing enterprise cloud architecture; if no enterprise cloud architecture exists, advise the Design Authority that enterprise cloud architecture is required.
  • Keep abreast of new and emerging cloud technologies and/or service offerings.
  • Maintain knowledge of cloud technology products in ATCO environment.
  • Expert cloud technical knowledge and understanding of interfacing systems and associated business areas supported.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the overall ATCO cloud architecture and of the technology products in the ATCO cloud environment to understand the issues and implications of proposed cloud system and hardware solutions.
  • Evaluating all cloud technology spend and recommending opportunities for cost and efficiency savings.
  • Responsible to execute any cost or efficiency savings with value.
  • Continuously evaluate spend and control cost across all spend within the Cloud ecosystem.
  • Develop and Report on existing spend and expected spend with potential savings to senior leadership.
  • Reporting on cloud usage, performance, and costs for the organization.
  • Communicate as required within the ATCO IT organization.
  • Review vendor provided system documentation, including cloud solution architecture and system manuals, to ensure alignment to business & technical requirements.
  • Participates in ATCO cloud solution design to ensure completeness of technical scope and implementation.
  • Works with the Design Authority to recommend new cloud technology direction or options to maintain competitive advantages.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on how to improve cloud efficiency, effectiveness, and value for ATCO.
Who You Are:
  • Undergraduate degree or College or Technical diploma in Information Systems Professional or related field.
  • 3-5 years of Azure loud experience or equivalent experience and education.
  • Ability to translate functional processes and technical system requirements to support the successful integration of ATCO cloud technology solutions to meet business needs.
  • Strong analytical, technical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to use non-technical language to explain technology to non IT stakeholders.
  • Maintain knowledge of ATCO cloud IT solutions, service offerings and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, build collaborative relationships, and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Have an innovative mindset, and a proven track record in identifying, proposing, prototyping, documenting, and overseeing the execution of cloud technology solutions.
  • Technical experience in Information Systems and Technology & cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of Azure Cloud systems, GCP Cloud systems, OCI is considered an asset, business process is considered an asset.
  • The ability to create reports and integrate when requested will be considered an asset.
