Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto's subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. This role provides architectural and engineering leadership in Cloud infrastructure by envisioning capabilities, creating business cases, architectural roadmaps and detailed designs aligned with Metrolinx Enterprise strategy in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture and other stakeholders. Cloud Infrastructure includes, but is not limited to Private Clouds, Public Clouds, Hybrid Clouds, Multi-Clouds, Software Defined Network, Infrastructure-as-Code, Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service.
What will I be doing?

• Collaborates with Enterprise Architecture, Product Managers and other stakeholders, to conduct needs assessments, identify future capabilities, and develop future state Cloud Infrastructure architecture with roadmaps.
• Develops and documents business case for identified needs, proposed roadmaps and future state Cloud infrastructure.
• Assists with translating Cloud Infrastructure roadmaps into a portfolio of programs, projects, enhancements and other initiatives to achieve the Cloud Infrastructure future state.
• Map business needs into related Cloud Infrastructure technology requirements.
• Conducts market scans in Cloud Infrastructure technologies and practices to determine ideas for inclusion in Metrolinx's Cloud Infrastructure.
• Proactively identifies opportunities to convert manual infrastructure and operations into automation.
• Proactively identifies, quantifies and qualifies risks in Cloud Infrastructure and identifies strategies to address the risks and controls.
• Collaborates with Enterprise Architecture and other stakeholders to design Metrolinx Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure framework and reference architecture, standards and principles.
• Collaborates with Network Engineering Specialists and other stakeholders to maintain Cloud Infrastructure architecture and detailed designs (conceptual, logical, integration and physical).
• Created detailed integration architectures for integrating new system architectures into existing Cloud Infrastructure architecture.
• Ensures Architectural documentation conforms with documentation standards and guidance, Architecture Decision Records (ADR's) Archimate models and other artifacts.
• Ensures Automation is designed and built into the Cloud Infrastructure and solutions.
• Collaborates with I&IT teams to design Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for the lifecycle of the Cloud Infrastructure and the overall solution stack.
• Review Solution Architecture and detailed designs to ensure they comply with Metrolinx I&IT standards and policies.
• Consults with Operations to ensure Cloud Infrastructure solutions are supportable and maintainable.
• Participates in problem management and root cause analysis of Cloud Infrastructure issues and incorporates recommended preventative measures in designs.
• Supports Project Teams, Operations and other stakeholders with expertise to develop, build and maintain and operate Cloud Infrastructure.
• Provides hands on troubleshooting to support I&IT teams as required.
• Provides hands on implementation to validate designs and to assist with Cloud Infrastructure build.
• Prepares training materials, performs knowledge transfer and leads learning sessions.
• Participates in organizational improvement initiatives such as Capability Maturity Model (CMM), and champions/assists in aligning and progressing related activities in Cloud Infrastructure area.
• Participates in Metrolinx I&IT delivery methodologies such as Lean-Agile.
• Liaises with internal departments regarding operational issues or improvements, and provides subject matter expertise to management team on an as required basis
• Establishes and maintains quality control and assurance on assigned projects; ensures deficiencies are addressed immediately and minimizes corporate liability by working with internal stakeholders to identify and manage risk and resolve escalating issues.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

• Completion of a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive related experience contributing to the success of midsize-to-large initiatives with above-average levels of complexity and business criticality.
• Extensive Senior Architectural design work in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps and automation development including AI initiatives.

Experience with the following:

• Experience with Azure CAF, Landing Zones, Cloud IaaS and PaaS(Incl. Serverless), Function APP, Logic App, WebApp (Azure primarily but also AWS, GCP)

• Experience with DevOps tools such as GITHub, Jira, Jenkins
• Experience with Cloud solution stack such as OpenStack
• Experience with Infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes
• Experience automating Infrastructure as a code
• Experience with CI/CD Pipelines
• Experience with Virtualization such as Hyper-V, VMWare, OVM and KVM
• Experience with containerization such as Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Containers and registry
• Experience with Load Balancers such as Local Traffic Manager, Global Traffic Manager, App G/W, Frontdoor
• Experience with Azure AI Foundry - Open AI, AI Search
• Experience with Cloud networking such as overlay networking, Azure Expressroute, vNets, subnets, peering, UDR's, NSG's, Private DNS Zones, Private Links, Private End-Points
• Experience with Identity Management such as Okta, Active Directory, Azure AD, IAM, RBAC and Entra
• Experience with Integration/low-code platforms such as API Gateway
• Experience with Storage Systems such as FC, iSCSI, FCoE, Storage array, backups, archive, deduplication, etc.
• Experience with Windows and Linux Operating systems
• Experience with networking such as routing, switching, LAN, WAN (SD-WAN, MPLS), etc.
• Experience with infrastructure products such as SCCM(MECM), SCOM, Ansible, Terraform, SQL, Oracle, Infoblox, Patching/Updates-AUM, logging and monitoring etc.
• Experience with Databricks, DataLake, Synapse and Datafactory
• Familiarity with converged, hyper-converged and composable infrastructure
• Practical knowledge of architectural framework such as TOGAF
• Knowledge and proficiency with multiple Agile life-cycle management tools such as JIRA, confluence, etc.
• Experience with and leading teams working in Lean-Agile delivery methods
• Experience in leading teams designing, architecting, delivering and supporting Cloud
• infrastructure in complex and critical environments
• Experience with security and compliance (Zero-Trust, PCI-DSS, operational technology, edge, etc.)
• Experience designing, architecting, delivering and supporting Cloud infrastructure with high availability and disaster recovery capabilities that meet business continuity requirements.
• Experience working with teams in alternative IT sourcing (e.g. contract staff, outsourced project delivery, the broker model, cloud services, IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing)
• Familiar with current and emerging Cloud infrastructure technologies.
